Looks like we have a bug here.
Good album, but the only essential track is Redbone. _________________ Add me on RYM

Agreed, it's a fairly unique album with lots of Funkadelic and Prince influences, but Redbone is the only classic (it's truly a fantastic song). I've always had a bit of a soft spots for the two songs that have "Your Mama" in the title. _________________ All time

It's still amazing to me how Childish Gambino went from being universally panned by critics and getting a 1.0 from Pitchfork to a massive pop sensation that everyone fawns over, seemingly overnight.
I think a lot of it started with this album, once Glover realized he was a lot better at making funk and R&B than he was at hip-hop. Or, perhaps more accurately, this feels like it was the album where Donald Glover decided to be Donald Glover instead of trying to be Drake _________________ 2023 Chart

I haven't heard Gambino's latest, but this is certainly the best collection of songs I've heard by him. I'm not sure anyone thought he could pull off an album like this, especially in 2012-2013, etc.
Atlanta's still better, but it's a decent record. Redbone's fantastic, and the opening track's also one of his best cuts. If I had my say, I would've made sure California never made the tracklist though. Could've tied it up in 10 tracks and it would've been a smoother record.
