This was funny and accurate when I first saw it several years ago, it's still accurate and something tells me it's gonna be like that for a looong time Laughing

I answered a similar question last night on RYM, and said they were a gateway band. That, whether someone’s rated 10 or 10,000 albums, they’ve probably rated Radiohead (It’s different here with the charts). Since almost all current members have rated/charted Radiohead, any new members are very likely to do the same compared to bands that are less popular. But, I think I was beside the point, and it comes down to something like this:

network effect>>bandwagon effect>>positive feedback loop.

I’m a part of it myself, since I know I’m contributing points to three Radiohead albums that are in my year charts. Despite the fact that I wouldn’t consider Radiohead to be in my top 100 artists, it’s possible I’m contributing more points to them than I am to artists I like much better with releases in years I consider to be much stronger (which might be a good argument for expanding the overall charts for users to 200 or more).

My question is why is the Radiohead album at number 1 spot. I see the chart and is comes at first when i see the reviews and rankings i see that Pink Floyds "Dark Side of The Moon" is better reviewed and has not so much comments as Ok Computer. Is it fact that most of the users of BEA.com are young or have the most of them grown up in the era of Radiohead. While i think a other album could be on number one spot. But what do you say to this. Question
A Radiohead album is #1 for the objective reason provided by craola. It's based on cumulative points from every chart from every user on the site. But to answer your question, yes I think it's a generational thing; that most users on the site grew up with Radiohead, as opposed to artists of the 60s and 70s.

Saying art can't be objective is throwing out every single literary critic who ever lived and all their work, which makes me sad.

To say everything has to be true with a capital T kind of objective, now that's the kind of world that makes me dogmatically cringe.

Pluralism doesn't discount something can be both objective and subjective at the same time.

Long story short if language wasn't in the way I guarantee you that you actually all agree.

Can I get a hell yes?

Also that's basically "objectively" how culture works. New Historicism is a literary theory term that basically is that discourse.

There is no such thing as objectively shit. Besides, IMO, the debut's better than In Rainbows, Hail to the Thief and The Bends.

With Arctic Monkeys' debut I tend to fall in the middle of the spectrum, I don't believe it's anywhere near objective shit, but it shouldn't be anywhere near the top 100 or even mentioned alongside HTTT and In Rainbows but this is why this site is so engaging (opinions exist).
