Last night I pinged the three folks who expressed an interest in participating and got nominations from Jimmy and Gowi (via PM). Consider nominations from anyone I didn't PM to be officially closed at this point (will still let Norm in if he gets back to me tonight). Six new songs means six more play-ins, which I'll have up within the next couple hours. Apologies for the delay, but this will only set us back a few days and I'm glad more people are able to participate . The play-ins, again taken randomly from everyone's third selections, will be:
Natalie Prass - Short Court Style
Jefre Cantu Ledesma - A Song of Summer
Sufjan Stevens - Death With Dignity
Anna Von Hausswolf - The Truth, The Glow, The Fall
YNW Melly - Murder On My Mind
Laura Marling - Soothing
Frank Ocean - Pretty Sweet
Kendrick Lamar - The Blacker the Berry
Grimes - Flesh Without Blood
Wells Fargo - Watch Out
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Waiting for You
Richard Dawson - Ogre
If anyone would like to swap out one of the songs they picked, let me know and it won't be difficult to make substitutions. Once the play-ins are over and I post the initial bracket, I won't accept any more swaps. _________________ And it's hard to be a human being. And it's harder as anything else.

I'm not opposed to reopening nominations and adding a few more play-ins but at the same time the line has to be drawn somewhere. I don't want to ask users to give up nominations because of a mistake I made so I'm going to split the difference and follow-up with folks who commented in this thread and see if they'd like to toss in their picks (lucky for you all I'm from the Midwest and am terrible at being assertive). Hope to have a few more songs by this time tomorrow so I can get some matches up tomorrow evening. |
You and me both.
Yeah no worries. Really not a big deal. You can't wait on the whole world.
I demand a 2014 replay because I wasn't involved...

Eh I've just been underwhelmed by a lot of choices so far...
In fact I'll end up being disappointed with my choices, because I'm starting to remind myself of some favourites that I could have nominated...

Yeah I hear you - it's hard to nominate just 3 songs to represent something, and often we have like 5 minutes to make that choice. It's still fun, and if nothing else it's not the "best" list, but clearly these tracks made an impression at some level if we are choosing them.

And that's a wrap on the play-ins! Congratulations to everyone whose picks advanced. Now that we're down to 64 it's time to unveil the official bracket. For the first round we'll start with four matches open, and matches will continue to be open for four days. However, I'll be opening four new matches every two days, meaning that after this first set we'll have eight matches open at a time. I'm hoping this won't get too hard to track, but let me know if it does. Most of the votes in these matches are coming in pretty early so I think things can be sped up just a bit.

Quick FYI that I'll be camping this weekend without access to Internet so the matches I open tonight will be open an extra day, until the 27th. To keep things on schedule, the matches opened on Thursday will also be open 5 days. After that things will be back to normal. _________________ And it's hard to be a human being.
