I thought this would finally be the year we have an animated film at #1, but alas.

Who knows. Maybe Luca will be a masterpiece. Apparently the team behind it is shocked they aren't getting the 'Soul treatment".

EDIT: This had like, 3 grammatical errors I needed to fix.

Also, in defense of Tenet, I really enjoyed it. It's a heap better than Interstellar and The Dark Knight Rises.
Shocked I mean I know people didn't like Interstellar as much as I did, but seriously?? Even Dark Knight Rises is at least 2 tiers above Tenet imo, but Interstellar is like 5 haha

I got around to watching a few new movies lately (finally) and Soul was one of them.

Great movie, and I enjoyed it; however, I kept thinking to myself, what kid would want to watch this? I kind of wish that they would have just went full-on adult with the premise of this movie. It's already like 75% of the way there. I feel like the themes of the movies could've have been more fleshed out if they could just be free to say and do whatever they wanted. (Which I guess makes it even more of an achievement given they made such a great film within the constraints of a children's feature.)

Here's my bad take on it though: "This is just and overly long episode of quantum leap." Very Happy

I get that. That's actually why I'm not a fan of Up. But Soul pulled it off much better imo. What other new movies did you see?

I also believe Up could have reached insane heights had they 'adulted it up' a smidge more, particularly the final act. I think it's a fantastic work, but once dogs began flying planes it did tarnish the picture as a whole.

I know it's Pixar, Disney, etc.. etc..., but I don't really think Soul is a 'kids' film. I also agree they could have upped the 'adultness' maybe a dial or two (particularly the... erm... ending), but apart from some funny cat bits, I'm not sold it's for children at all. I feel like the main demographic might even be people in their 30s and 40s. As a whole piece, it's probably their most mature full-length to date (shorts Borrowed Time and Purl are kinda adult-leaning).

Either way, glad you liked it Smile
