I still don't quite click with Clipping. Love their ideas, but it always sounds like they're trying too hard. If they had a more relaxed delivery I think I'd enjoy them more. Cool to see someone as mainstream as Diggs making something so leftfield though.
XCX for me (coincidentally, also someone very mainstream making something leftfield). Not as good as her 2019 album, but I loved the bedroom effort. Forever's one of my favourite singles of the decade so far (somewhere in the top five).

Put a pound of joy up in a pill then crush it down to powder
Let it sit under your tongue and check back in about a hour
It's that lover love and lost, it's that lost that lovin' feelin'
It's that base jump from the window while you dancing on the ceiling
It's that (Whoop), geeked up, it's that sky, it's deeper
Than that pool you swim in, you inside the speaker
It's your song, sling that tightrope, walk the skin inside your teeth
Call that floss and bleeding diamonds, fine if you could only reach
Ones up in the sky is smiling, they so fine and they so far
And you so small and so you find that you've been wishing on a star
Do you feel that?
I had the same feeling listening to their debut, it was cool and all but didn't really hit me hard. Their last two, especially Visions of Bodies Being Burned blew me away. It's weird and leftfield like you said, but also it's straight up bangers with fantastic choruses and catchy melodies. It goes harder than a lot of Horrorcore and yet it's easily accessible. Doesn't hurt that Diggs has one of the best flows in the game.
Easy vote despite me loving that XCX records as well. _________________ Finally updated the overall chart

How I'm Feeling Now is my second-favorite album remaining, and it's up against my least favorite, so the choice is clear. _________________ Add me on RYM

Feel exactly the same way. I think There Existed an Addiction to Blood is their best so far, but Visions... is a close second. I will say Story 2 from their debut album might be my favorite horrorcore song of all time, I think it exemplifies the genre better than any other song I've ever heard. But on Visions, I'd have to say other than "Say the Name" (which is the clear highlight, and intentionally so), "Check the Lock" might be my favorite. But even their Interludes are good, and this is coming from someone who usually HATES skits in albums (so glad that 90s-mid 00s trend died).
Not to detract from Charli XCX, because that was a quality album as well, but the clipping. album was just fantastic. _________________ 51 Washington, D.C. albums!

Both still completely unlistenable. I'll just abstain and vote against whoever wins in the next round.

By far my least favourite matchup of this round - if I ranked the remaining 16 albums, there's a very good chance these two would be #15 and #16.
