I wonder why you don't have John French on the drum ranking

Good call! No good reason -- just am very far from finishing this, haven't added him yet and haven't really thought out where I should rank his performance(s)

Just a few suggestions:

Jaco Pastorius' bass playing on songs like Joni Mitchell's "Refuge of the Roads," on Hejira, is absolutely incredible. Plus on Pat Metheny's "Bright Size Life," the whole Heavy Weather and 8:30 albums by Weather Report. These are worth consideration, as they're some of the best bass playing in history.

Wayne Shorter's sax playing on the Heavy Weather album, particularly in the song "A Remark You Made," absolutely killer beautiful.

Pat Metheny on guitar and Lyle Mays on keyboards, particularly on the first Pat Metheny Group album. Absolutely amazing.

Thank you! This reminded me that I should add a suggestions section so I don't forget all these, especially these less obvious ones. For instance, I've been meaning to add the ethereal/otherworldly guitar and bass of Hejira but must've forgot when I was last putting this together. And selections like Bright Size Life are tough to recall because it's been so long since I listened to it, or the first Methany Group album. Off the top of my head I'm not quite sure if I'm familiar with A Remark You Made, but it seems to ring a bell back in the corners of my mind somewhere. I'll have to check it out at some point to verify or perhaps discover a new entry. All in all, thanks for the suggests!
