I stayed up for once. I'm happy. Hoping for a Mavs - Miami finals.

Eh, they were kind of bumpy in the first quarter, but yeah, fair enough. But yeah love the "anything can happen" league.

Their offense is kinda bumpy overall, agreed. Absolutely love this season.

For some reason I find Taylor slightly annoying, but he's a top tier analyst and has great videos and podcasts. Rec for anyone who wants to get into basketball more seriously.

Predictions:

Celtics 4-1 Heat (4-2 is probably a more reasonable prediction but I don't trust the Heat)

GSW 4-3 Mavs (tough to predict, if the Mavs play yet another good series they could actually win as GSW are up and down this season)

Him, Nick, and Clayton are my favorite ones to watch/listen to.

A bit late (as usual) but -- fwiw -- my picks were/are...

WCF: Warriors over Mavs in 7

ECF: Celtics over Heat in 6

Finals: Celtics over Warriors in 6

My previous Finals picks of Suns over Bucks are both out (after my season opening picks of Lakers over Nets utterly failed) so I am by no means the supreme basketball genius you all surely thought I was Think Think Think if I now luck into getting these (doubly revised) picks "correct" Laughing Laughing Laughing

My only saving grace on the Bucks pick was that I made it before the playoffs (so before Middleton was injured), and plus, it was a close series with the Celtics anyway. Had I made the pick after that injury I would've went with Boston over the Bucks in 7 and all the way to the finals vs the Suns (please believe me hehe).

As for the Suns... man they just cracked. Clearly "should've" beat the Mavs (on paper ... based on metrics, peak performances and consistency off and def across the whole season) but the "psychological" element can't be overstated and as the series wore on (after they theoretically should've been able to end it in 5), I think they just fell apart (to put it simply) and became physically intimidated and outmatched by a Dallas team that is reminding more and more of that 2007 Lebron-led Cavs team (that other commentators have already noted).

As for these new picks, if we do the usual overreactions after game 1 of each of these, the Warriors are going to smoke the Mavs and the Celtics won't be able to overcome their injuries to Smart and Horford in time, so I'll probably get my ass kicked yet again, and then have to slump to the 2022 finish line with yet another revised Finals prediction. But I still have confidence in my picks (for now at least...)

My predictions have been decent so far, but the conference finals ones are completely wrong. Didn't think the Heat were a serious threat, the teams they beat so far weren't really challenging. And then they end up winning game 3 without Butler in the second half. After that display against the Suns, everyone was expecting more from Dallas as well... GSW look like they have everything under control, and that's been the feeling since the first second of the opening game.
