I was trying to post an image again this year and it isn't working once again. This year I listened to 51, 769 minutes of music (so far). It will be more by the end of the year. I don't know why Spotify Wrapped comes out on December 1st when there's a whole month left in the year. I listened to 1,171 artists and 20 genres. My top genre was Southern Gospel. My top artists:
1. Lauren Talley
2. The Talleys
3. Charles Billingsley
4. LordSong
5. Karen Peck & New River
My top songs:
1. Shut Him Up - Lauren Talley
2. Future Glory - Karen Peck & New River
3. Take Me Back - The Browns
4. All My Hope - Hebron Road
5. My Name Is Victory - The Wilbanks
1. Art pop
2. Hip hop
3. Electronic
4. Post doom metal
5. Alternative rock
I was surprised art pop was the first, but it kinda makes sense. Same thing with hip hop.
What is "electronic"? Are techno, house, electro, big beat, electropop, nu disco and similar all just "electronic" or are there more specific genres? If these are all considered the same genre, I'm struggling to see how that's not my number 1.
I'm pretty sure post doom metal doesn't exist at all. I guess that's what they call death doom and funeral doom and all the other modern iterations of doom. That would make sense, since I've been listening to a lot of Worm, Disembowelment, Quietus, Drown, Messa etc.
Alt rock is fine, Pixies, Sonic Youth and The Cure were some of my most listened to bands (again). _________________ Finally updated the overall chart

Huh so typically you can browse thru all the spotify genres on https://everynoise.com/ (if you were ever curious which artists are Escape Room, here's your chance). But they don't show any kind of overarching "electronic" genre. So it could be that some electronic music is getting collected under this, but then other stuff is counting as a separate thing.

Thanks tap, this is a cool and valuable resource. I'm pretty sure "electronic" works just like you said, some of it is collected under the umbrella term, while the other stuff is more specific.
Here's "post doom" summary if anyone's interested.
In conclusion, these are all just barely connected bands, most of them incorporating some kind of atmospheric sludge stuff. But not all of them. It makes sense that post doom doesn't actually exist as a genre. _________________ Finally updated the overall chart
Apple Music has upgraded Replay enough this year so that they finally have something very similar to Wrapped. My artist and song results aren't totally representative of my listening, but that's because I listen to a lot of music via my own files, and the plays only count if the file was matched.
Artists
1. Carly Rae Jepsen
2. Rina Sawayama (much of it to prepare for the final concert of her tour on Friday, which was great - she puts on an excellent show)
3. Taylor Swift

5. Beyoncé
Songs
1. Jesus Was A Cross Maker - Judee Sill (also my #2 from last year)
2. Rainbow Connection - Kermit

5. R&B & Soul _________________ Add me on RYM
