Can't believe I'm posting in this thread for the fourth time in a week, but I want to acknowledge the passing of Motown's Barrett Strong.
Dude knew how to write a song as good as any.
^^^ To me, there are no songs to sing until they are written. In other words, I won't be surprised if writers in the end never get the appreciation that they so very much deserve.
God bless you and the family of your favorite always!!!

P.S. My five late favorite singers were definitely no stranger to the songwriting field of music.
Northern Calloway (David of the Sesame Street children's show)
Steve Sanders of the Oak Ridge Boys
Billy Joe Royal
Hal Ketchum

Trugoy from De La Soul has passed away. RIP to the absolute legend of hip hop.
I just saw this, and now I am feeling really bummed out. I wondered why he wasn't at the Grammys performance. With their music finally about to be out on streaming next month, I was looking forward to going through those albums again. It's been awhile since I've listened to them in full.
I've used a lot of different songs as alarms at one point in my life; one I used for a long time was "Eye Know". It was a great way to start my day.
RIP to Wayne Shorter. He was 89. It's hard to even describe the impact he's had on jazz in his 60+ years career. From Art Blakey's band to Miles' band to Weather Report to his solo stuff - every single chapter of his career would've made him a household name, but overall he's truly one of the greatest musicians of all time. _________________ Finally updated the overall chart
One of the all time greats...a master of more stringed instruments than I can name, David Lindley (1944-2023) played on albums in your collection. I guarantee it. Beyond his time with the band Kaleidoscope in the 60's and his 15 plus album solo career, Lindley was a force on great albums by...
Jackson Browne
Ry Cooder
Crosby & Nash
Graham Nash
Terry Reid
Linda Ronstadt
Rod Stewart
Warren Zevon
Leonard Cohen
Bob Dylan
Joe Walsh
Dolly Parton
Bruce Springsteen
Rickie Lee Jones
Ben Harper
America
Marshall Crenshaw
The Youngbloods
Gary Rossington. The last remaining original member of Lynyrd Skynyrd. And the only member to have played on every single Skynyrd album. An amazing guitarist, and hugely responsible for carrying on the Skynyrd name and memories of his bandmates who died in the 1977 plane crash, and the memories of those who died afterwards.
Rossington was 71.
Rossington plays the slide intro at the beginning...

RIP Lance Reddick. Dude had a unique presence and played some of the coolest roles on TV. Don't forget he was an iconic voice actor too, starred in several great games.
