"Something Else" is heaven. The Kinks are also one of my favorite bands. I'd never say they are better than The Beatles, they are not Probably the same with the Rolling Stones adn The Who, but I still like more the Kinks than those last two ones. Even thought after "Lola versus Powerman" the quality of their albums was lower, still there are LOTS of song post 70's that absolutely rock and most of the poeple don't know and probably will never know. I'm still waiting for a stereo boxset from them (mono boxset was already released so hopefully stereo one is close). Love them, Hail the kinks!
