I'm hereby declaring tomorrow: "Songrating Extravaganza Saturday"!

Everybody will listen to and rate at least three albums from this weeks picks,
if they haven't already.

...

Think

Or I will anyway...

Haha thanks gussteivi... I take it you have your internet (and porn) back now?

I have three albums to go for this week, so if I can listen to them all between my meetings, commuting, and the chocolate festival here in town... count me in!

Chocolate festival, eh?

I can see how that could be a... distraction from song rating.

There's not a single song I dislike and the last track is stunning.
This also feels like the sort of album that grows with on you over time.
This one will definetily be listened to again in the near future.

I'll listen to and rate the other two tomorrow.

Quiet Life, by Japan 70/100

Nothing spectacular here. I didn't really know what to expect from them, but there were only 8 songs so I figured it would be an easy listen. And it was; almost too easy. As in, sometimes I didn't remember anything about a song I had just listened to that I had to listen to it again to remind myself just so I could rate it. Essentially, the songs blended into the background and didn't really stand out for me. Nice music for background at a party or in a store, perhaps, but not something I'd care to dig up again.

Aside from the title track (80/100), nothing else really gave me a go, and were generally forgettable. This does not mean that the songs were bad, per se, they just weren't great.

In the meantime, I managed to listen to Nightwish, finally. Better than expected. They're more of the symphonic metal than death metal, I think, so I found appreciation in that. They still don't hold a candle to Within Temptation for me, but that might just be personal preferences. The girl's voice was nice, I just couldn't always understand what she was saying. The "best" tracks were Forever Yours and Beauty of the Beast, but I wouldn't say they were stand out ones compared to the others. This would make my top five best metal albums... after my four WT albums, and without having listened to Tool's Ænima yet (it's on my computer and iTunes tells me it's metal too), or any other metal for that matter.

Week 3 will be up tomorrow, sorry for the delay! Hopefully more people will participate (thank for pushing this gus!) Week three will finally have an album I own, so I can start with the song rating right away! Week 3 is also the most diverse chronologically, from 1958 to 2007, covering 4 different decades, so there should be something for everyone.

Well, everyone being anyone who likes original rock, rock and roll, alternative rock, Scot/Brit rock, and country rock Razz
