Yeah, here it is. That thread about what year was better. But seriously, 2012 is shaping out quite differently to 2011.

Feb 18 marks one years since the release of the 2nd favourite for 2011, The King Of Limbs. Also by this time last year, we had seen and heard:

Red Barked Tree - Wire
Thank You, Happy Birthday - Cage the Elephant
Ritual - White Lies
The King Is Dead - The Decemberists
21 - Adele
Mine Is Yours - Cold War Kids
Kaputt - Destroyer
Zonoscope - Cut Copy
Let England Shake - PJ Harvey
Degeneration Street - The Dears
Radiohead - The King of Limbs

This year:

The Maccabees - Given to the Wild
The Big Pink - Future This
Lacuna Coil - Dark Adrenaline
Lana Del Rey - Born to Die
Air - Le Voyage Dans La Lune
Van Halen - A Different Kind of Truth
Emeli Sandé - Our Version of Events
Sleigh Bells - Reign of Terror
Hayden Who - Candles Very Happy

A slow start or a sign of the end of the world?

Think

Hey harkan, You need to keep your ear to the ground, right? You seriously can't expect Van Halen to be a highlight of 2012, can you? Check out Cloud Nothings Attack on Memory for at least one very interesting new CD already this year. Have you checked out BEA's own list for best of 2012?

I don't see the point of comparing 2012 to anything else when we're in mid-February... '12.

Yes, we can see that.

I think my point was kind of missed. Up to this time of the year, last year, already PJ Harvey, Radiohead and Adele had released albums. Compared to (as "highlights") Van Halen, Air and Emeli Sande. Now besides Hayden's effort and Cloud Nothings, it has been a slow start. Not many of the big names with new albums, or albums that could already be seen as end-of-year-list toppers.

Don't forget Kaputt. That was out too Smile

I'm really not sure about how 2012 will turn out Think It's a shame, cause the actual line-up is next to empty.

Like...nothing interesting is coming out Neutral

We have the Shins coming up soon. That might be good Smile But most of the years hyped albums are (sadly) already released Confused (of Montreal, The Big Pink, Lana Del Rey, Leonard Cohen, Sleigh Bells..etc...)

We still have:

MGMT
Soundgarden
Sigur Ros
Grizzly Bear
Animal Collective (apparently..?...)
The xx
Stone Roses
Modest Mouse (again..apparently?)
Tool
Metric ( Very Happy )
Garbage
&
Bruce Springsteen

but I have a feeling the 'big' album this year will be a debut. [-o< Something huge & amazing and new and stuff Razz
