I think that Simon & Garfunkel are bad enough to be hated. The Sound of Silence makes me sick.
By saying this I'm not saying that they suck. I like some songs by them. But still, they are ba enough to be hated.

Woah ive never heard anyone say that about Simon and Garfunkel before, Probably why I like this site though, if you can imagine a type of person they more than likely have an account on this site.

the pixies suck in my opinion.

i wouldn't say that i hate them, they simply don't stir enough passion in me for that.. it's just i find their stuff insipid, tuneless, uninspiring, unintelligent and ironic in a most unfunny way. deadpan dirge.

i wouldn't wish them out of existence though as of course a certain k. cobain certainly had a soft spot for them which led him to produce some genuinely awesome music..

yeah if it would be anybody it's probably Bob Marley

Most Bob Marley fans I've met are so freaky I'm scared to diss him.

I think Hendrix would have to be the most universally non-hated.

but about the pixies, i don't really agree... you have to be a rock fan and used that sound to like them .... which is not the case of the Beatles for example ! so pop that even my grand ma doesn't bother listening to the Beatles... Smile

I was going to say the flaming lips aswell, But because ive only just got into them, I dont really know where they stand on the hate/non hate spectrum.

Personally I don't see how anyone can hate them

I used to hate johnny cash when I was younger but I was a bit ignorant and didnt really know what I was talking about. And since listening to his version of Hurt, I dont think I could say a bad thing about him ever again.

Aretha Franklin I really dont know much about, So I cant say I hate her, But Solo artists are usually loved or hated anyway ie (Hendrix/Kevin Federline)

While I don't hate Bob Marley, I hate what he's been turned into. He's like the Che of music, he's an image who would despise the fact that he's been turned into a tool of capitalism. Most people I know who are hardcore Bob Marley fans are frat boy douchebags who don''t own another reggae album other than Legend...I don't know many people who hate Mississippi John Hurt, or Ya La Tengo

What about Tom Petty? I've always kind of thought of him as sort of the meat and potatoes of rock n roll. Now, some of his hardcore fans are easy to hate for their mostly insipid taste and general lack of musical knowledge, but I have seen Tom Petty and Heartbreakers Greatest Hits in a broad cross-culture of music fans' collections, including my own. Also, Tom Petty, himself has always seemed kind of cool to me.

Also, I totally agree with Bob Marley and Johnny Cash. Almost everybody likes those guys.

I don't know. The Flaming Lips are weird and eccentric, and I think one could interpret their weirdness and imaginativeness as precious or cutesy, or even pretentious, so I could totally see how someone could hate The Flaming Lips. I'm not in that camp, but I could understand that point of view.
