Really lovely album and definitely her most listener friendly. I think she'd carve out an even more unique voice with her next few records though

This is a very pretty album. I love the hell out of These Days and the title track. The rest was really nice and pleasant to listen to. I should really give more time to this album.

A lovely album, some of the songs are a bit awkward (Wrap Your Troubles In Dreams, for example) but the likes of These Days and the title track more than make up for it.

Sure, what was to follow is much more original, daring and totally bleakly out there. However, I still hold this one as a favourite, the sheer beauty of the songwriting, arrangements and clumsy-sounding singing makes this one of the most beautiful records I've ever heard.

Couldn't agree more. Interesting that she hated the strings and flute that got overdubbed - in some respects it makes tracks like "Somewhere There's A Feather" and "Winter Song".

I'd be very curious to hear what a stripped-back version of Chelsea Girl would sound like... kinda like the Bohemian equivalent of Let It Be...Naked perhaps?

Gorgeous, just gorgeous. It's a toss-up between this and Marble Index for my favorite of hers, but I'll take her solo career over both Reed and Cale.

Yeah this is wonderful, just a great bit of serenity (albeit somewhat melancholic serenity) before the very bleak, very draining albums that followed it

Beautifully hypnotic. I used to think her vocals were the weak link on the banana album when I first discovered the VU. I'm an idiot.
