You should check out some of the classic 70s funk bands who influenced a lot of your favorite albums, such as Funkadelic and Parliament.

First off, in the future if you're looking for recs of something feel free to drop by the "Recommendations Thread" and do your thing. It saves you the hassle of starting a new subject and also it keeps the music forum less "cluttered".

As for funk recs, I'm far from an expert but I recently went through a phase where it was all I was listening to and these were my absolute favorites and the ones I most recommend:

Dirty Mind by Prince
One Nation Under A Groove by Funkadelic
Up on the Down Stroke by parliament
The Payback by James brown
Àfrica Brasil by Jorge Ben
Maggot Brain by Funkadelic
There's A Riot Goin on by Sly And The Family Stone
Fresh by Sly atF Stone
Shaft by Isaac Hayes

Thanks for the recs guys.

Funnily enough, Funkadelic's eponymous debut is in my Wish-List and I'll hopefully purchase it next time I feel I need a treat Wink

Will be sure to try out as many recs as possible, some of them have really cool artwork I must say Smile

I may as well post up the only album I know to be somewhat funk (well I've heard it described as such, although it doesn't sound too funky to me... but I digress!)

Cupid Deluxe - Blood Orange

I'm quite ignorant/ lacking in knowledge about Funk to be honest.

I liked the Funk radio station on GTA V i guess Laughing

And I enjoy the likes of Chic, Metro Area, Escort, Janelle Monae etc Think

Everything previously mentioned is great. You can't go wrong with pretty much any 70s Funkadelic or Parliament.

This has been a personal favorite lately and it's a bit different than the bulk of what has been mentioned. It's electronic afro-funk:

World Psychedelic Classics 5: Who Is Wi...m Onyeabor

and some other choice cuts:

Cosmic Slop by Funkadelic

Funkentelechy Vs. The Placebo Syndrome by Parliament

The World Is A Ghetto by War

Superfly by Curtis Mayfield

and something a bit more modern:

100 Days, 100 Nights by Sharon Jones &a... Dap-Kings

Make The Road By Walking by Menahan Street Band
