Are there any particular albums that you would like to listen to for the first time again and re-live the moment when the magic of it may have hit you, or are there personal stories or feelings of nostalgia that you associate with a particular album that you would like to share with us?

I'll wait around before I add a few of mine.

Every single album I bought as a kid between the ages of 12 and 18, before cds. before college and real life responsibilities got in the way. I loved going to the record store picking up two or three albums based only on hearing a song on the radio, not knowing what the rest of the album was going to sound like. Getting home opening up the album, smelling the vinyl, (the best thing in the world after new car smell!), putting the album on my turntable with my headphones on, and reading and analyzing the lyrics and album credits. To me, there was nothing like that as a kid.

I second that. First thing I ever bought was ELO's Out Of The Blue from an independent record store in a village nearby me. Like yourself, getting in anticipating what I was about to subject my ears to. I would lock myself away watching the turntable and making sure I absorbed everything. Magical.

I wish I could experience Queen's A Night At The Opera for the first time.

Specifically, I wish I could experience "Bohemian Rhapsody" for the first time again. Before I had heard it a thousand times on classic rock radio or people thinking that they're HILARIOUS for singing it in their falsetto. Before all that, when that song was just a masterpiece of a work to me. I wish I could hear it again like that.

I was actually able to hear this album before I bought it, but what made me want to hear it at all wasn't just because of the song on it that introduced me to James, "Just Got Started Lovin' You" that is, but another song on it that I happened to hear him sing before getting the album named "Dam* Right". That is the song that sent James to the top of my list of favorite singers. Smile Smile Smile

God bless you and him and my other favorites always!!! Smile Smile Smile

Holly

P.S. Go here to check out the performance of "Dam* Right" that made me the fan of James that I have been for the past six years and still counting. Smile Smile Smile

The first time I heard Across the universe by The Beatles; specifically the "nothing's gonna' change my world" lyric. It was a breathe of fresh air; the realisation that even hidden Beatle songs were absolutely incredible. I then knew they'd be with me forever.

Alphabetical and Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, both by Phoenix. Specifically "Rome".

I've heard those two albums just after I broke up with my ex-girlfriend and it really came in time.

Not albums; but I wish I could experience the wonder of listening to jazz or noise for the first time. The chidlike fascination driven by awe is gone and that was an euphoric feeling.
