Okay, so we're talking a lot about 2010's best, and what's coming up in 2011, but what about 2009?

Personally, I've changed my favorites a good bit since then. Here are my top five of 2009:
1. White Rabbits-It's Frightening (9.0)
2. Gossip-Music For Men (8.5)
3. Animal Collective-Merriweather Post Pavilion (8.5)
4. Charlie N. George-The Book of Abysmality (8.0)
5. Miley Cyrus-Can't Be Tamed/Asa-Asa (8.0)

What about you? Have you discovered any 2009 albums recently that deserve more respect, or did you find that the "great" 2009 albums haven't held up?

Still love White Lies - To Lose My Life so that is above Muse - The Resistance.

Only would add Leader Cheetah - The Sunspot Letters (adelaide band) and Silversun Pickups - Swoon to favs of 2009.

And I still cant see the appeal of MPP. Sorry to those out there that love it but I like to experience music not have to overanalyse every couple of seconds. Maybe in time I will but at the moment, I don't appreciate it.

I really only listen to a few songs off MPP, Veckatimest, and It's Blitz, which is mainly why I stand up for 2010 so much; there are so many songs from the beginning of the year which I still put on repeat

Yeah, there were a few albums from 2009 that I just couldn't get behind, the main ones being Veckatimest and Embryonic. I'm not knocking the albums, I'm just saying I couldn't understand what the hype was about. Anyway, here's the list:

1. Elvis Perkins in Dearland - Elvis Perkins in Dearland and The Doomsday EP (I think it's reasonable to group these two together)
2. Coldplay - Left Right Left Right Left (I didn't know if this should count as a real album or not... hence why I'm listing eleven albums instead of ten Smile )
3. The Decemberists - The Hazards of Love
4. Local Natives - Gorilla Manor
5. The Big Pink - A Brief History of Love
6. The Antlers - Hospice
7. Camera Obscura - My Maudlin Career
8. Kasabian - West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum
9. The Damnwells - One Last Century
10. Andrew Bird - Noble Beast
11. M. Ward - Hold Time

Honorable mentions go to:
Julian Casablancas - Phrazes for the Young
Balmorhea - All Is Wild, All Is Silent
Metric - Fantasies

After I made my list, I was surprised to see no one had mentioned most of the albums I listed (even though only a few people have posted), particularly those from The Decemberists, The Big Pink, Local Natives, and Camera Obscura. Only because I thought those were fairly "big" albums from 2009. But I could be wrong.
