I disagree I think there is a theme or possibly multiple. I think the main one is (and this is rather reductive) man vs nature and this splits off in to stuff like politics (as you discussed) religion etc etc etc

the difference between an EP and LP nowadays is the number of songs (see wikipedia 'EP' article. Usually 5 songs or less is an EP, and/or less than 25 minutes in length; Mars Volta's Frances the Mute's 5 songs aren't split up for meaning, it's so they would get album wages. It's weird that Iron Lung is still an EP though with 8 songs. I'm thinking the record company did it because: (1) Creep had already been released; (2) My Iron Lung was going to be released; and (3) the other tracks are all outtakes and b-sides off the Bends.

i've read in the newspaper today that Radiohead confirmed working in some new materials, which confirms a bit more the 2nd part of the TKOL

Some people are saying Radiohead will start releasing two new songs a month, which combined with TKoL will make a super-album.
