Well they said they're sick of the album format/idea so it could be anything.

CHALLENGE:
WHo else has had an 8th album that is as good as "The King Of Limbs"?*

*Not including the The Beatles and Pink Floyd the 2 best bands ever**
**According to besteveralbums.com circa 2011

Manic Stre... oh wait that was Send Away The Tigers. Probably better than The King Of Limbs but who am I to judge, I haven't listened to it yet. Laughing

Maybe Rush Rolling Eyes Although I can't for the life of me remember what their 8th album was.

MOVING PICTURES!!!! :O

An overrated album, yes, but still WAY better than the King of Limbs.

Tori Amos made the Beekeeper, which some didn't like but I loved.

Pink Floyd made Animals, which is a pretty good album.

The Beatles made SGT. PEPPER!!!!!

R.E.M. made Automatic For The People, another mind-blowing album.

So yeah, this "eighth-album" thing isn't flying for me.

Just to be clear the challenge wasn't "I bet you can't find one" it was just out of interest. A "There is none better" thread would only lead to personal taste disagreements to which there is no end. Also I did mention in that post about The Beatles and Pink Floyd as I was aware they had both mjade great albums. Oh and TKOL is def better than Moving Pictures Wink which i actually do like.

as i said personal opinion disagreements but a couple that i'll take particular contention with Zooropa (obviously) and WHo Are You (incredibly average). Also I would count the 2nd Incarnation of FLeetwood a 2nd band and so rumours are their...2nd? although I guess technically they are the same band.

O.K. Who Are You and Zooropa are a stretch I'll give you those 2. But I stand by the rest. But personally I don't think there will be many more bands in the future that will have an 8th. album that's as good, or even have an 8th. album period.

I would say because most bands these days fall into decay about 3 albums in and don't get back up. Incidentally i believe "Let England Shake" is PJ's 8th (But not as good as TKOL Razz )

I don't think decay before eighth album is any more prevalent now than ever.

maybe but the album as an artform in general is notoriously decaying.

NEXT CHALLENGE:
Name bands, that a currently not on their 8th album, that you think can go the distance and make a GOOD 8th album.
