I've been desperately awaiting Yorgos Lanthimos' "The Lobster". It's already premiered at Cannes right? Why am I having such difficulty finding reliable information about it?

Also looking forward to this. I have a feeling it's going to win the Palme D'or based on what people are saying.
Comes out on October 16th
As for me, I watched Damsels In Distress (2011) last night, and it was a bit of an unfortunate dud. Ah well.

Have y'all seen Dogtooth then? Fucking amazing. One of the best films of the last 10 years with one of the best performances put to film (Papoulia).
Thumbnail. Click to enlarge.
The Lobster looks equally mental in a different way. Can't wait.
EDIT: Although I highly doubt it'll win the Palme

Agreed. Fantastic movie. The hammer scene goes down in my books as one of the hardest scenes to watch ever, it just makes me cringe like crazy (in a good way). Dogtooth is the main reason I'm looking forward to The Lobster tbh.
Although it's kinda silly to predict who will win the Palme, cause it'd just be speculation and what you hear from other people, who do you think will get it this year? I'm feeling The Lobster is certainly a frontrunner. I'd also say that Carol would be a front runner if they didn't have a recent lesbian romance movie win the award Youth would be a third pick. Really looking forward to seeing all three.

Either Carol (though I completely forgot about the Blue comparison) or Son Of Saul or Mountains May Depart

This may be my #1 film for the decade. So original, intellectual and haunting. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com

Not that it really matters, it's obvious you think it's a great film, but what decade are you talking about? It was released in 2009 but is often cited as a 2010 film.

Haven't heard much about Mountains May Depart, I'll have to look it up. Son of Saul is certainly getting praise though.

Good question. I was thinking it came out more recently than 2009. Then I went to try to put together a list for you for the 2010s and was surprised to see it came out in 2009. well. either way it's very very high on my all time list. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com

When people used to ask me what my homeschool experience was like, I used to show them Dogtooth. But then that freaked them out too much, and I decided to make my Document album as a substitute.
Haven't seen any other Lanthimos, though.

Good god. I hope it wasn't that bad. There's another user that I definitely thought of when I saw the film. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com
