I mean, seriously. They sound like a band at a high school talent show. Robert Smith can't sing or write. Is it just a case of the Emperor's New Clothes?

So are you talking about the Pixies or the Cure?

Either way you're wrong but knowing which band you're actually referring to will help me to form an argument.

haha. With Smith fronting them, I can understand the lack of appeal. As far as the Pixies, fronted by Frank Black, are concerned, if you don't like rock, you will most certainly not like them.

Wrong lead singer, but if you are talking about the Pixies, I didn't like them much at first, and I think I had to listen to Doolittle 6-7 times before I understood it.

Listen to 'Monkey's Gone To Heaven', "Gigantic' & 'Where Is My Mind?'

If you don't like those, then you just don't like that genre of rock.

Frank Black has admitted he can't write and spouts out bullshit that sounds cool together with ideas that ma or may not be cohesive. As far as the music, it's not about skill here: it's simply great guitar-pop. It's catchy music that both punks and pop listeners alike can listen to and usually like. The reason people praise albums their albums, like Doolittle, so much is because they're practically albums that could have most of their songs released as singles

the Pixies and Sonic Youth, probably the two most IMPORTANT alternative rock bands from the 80s. For some they may not be the most easy listening but calling them a high school band? hehehe?
