This album is just one beautiful freak of its own. I love it for what it is.

Is it solipsistic in here or is it just me?

E is one hell of a songwriter, and he doesn't pull punches. This is just E's experiences laid out bare, something he's well known for now. It's not Electro-Shock Blues or anything (few albums are), but it's still an awesome album from one of my favorite bands/songwriters ever

It´s very good, electro-shock blues is better, but it's still very good, especially novacaine for the soul.

I agree, I tend to think Eels' peak period is 1998-2000, with Electro-Shock and Daisies (possibly my favourite Eels record today, less difficult to listen to than ESB). This was however a very good debut, intriguing and catchy enough to make you want to listen to what was to come next.
