I don't find this album forgettable at all. The second half drags a bit, but the first 5 songs are about as good and memorable a 5 song stretch as I've ever heard. Beautiful doesn't even begin to describe it. All 5 songs would probably make my top 100 songs of all time. Each one is perfect on it's own yet somehow still enhanced when played together in order. And the second half of the album is still great, just not quite on the same level for me.

The last track is unforgivable. Forgettable though, I don't even remember why.

This album is perfect. Including, AND ESPECIALLY, "Beth/Rest." How many artists are there that embrace trends that aren't just unpopular, but are routinely scorned and belittled, only to make those techniques and sounds totally work? I firmly believe that "Beth/Rest" is as bold and punk rock as musicianship gets. Justin Vernon is saying, "Hey, I love Bonnie Raitt and Bruce Hornsby. They're big influences, and they mean a lot to me. If you don't like it, no big deal. That's not important." Seriously amazing stuff. The rest of it needs no defense. Bon Iver, Bon Iver is a striking combination of intelligent, meticulous songwriting and production as it is emotionally rich. This is an album that I did not love at first, but has grown on me significantly since I first heard it. It ranks among my five favorite albums of all time, and revisiting it is never disappointing.

I listened to this album a tonne about a year ago. I certainly dismissed it as forgettable on my first listen, but it really clicked for me one day. Nowadays, it's alright, but the second half is a bit too fluffy. Except Beth/Rest, screw the haters, those 80s synths and drums are awesome, and that cheesy sax really seals the deal.

Reaches for the heavens and naturally it can just barely smell the clouds, but a few lovely songs nonetheless (Im actually completely indifferent to the last song, but then again pretty indifferent to most of the album)

Loved it from the moment I heard it. The first side is as solid as a rock, and for someone who tends to listen to songs whilst standing on high ground whilst gazing over at the rolling Surrey Downs with the wind blowing through my (ever thinning) hair "Beth/Rest" totally clicks. It's been in my overall 100 for what seems like an eternity and I can't see it being budged any time soon. _________________ 'Reggae' & t'ing

For a child of the '90s like myself, this definitely wasn't love at first listen, but it grew on me a lot over time. I'd now count it among my favorites, though not quite overall material.
