Yeah, I find their environment positions to be a little... extreme, and possibly detrimental to current city planning.
I'm also waaaay pro-nuclear power, which puts me at odds with most of the green party supporters I know.
How do you mean 'detrimental to city planning'? Current city planners (with the excpetion of Rob "I love cars" Ford) are pushing for increased density, greater public transit, etc... These things are inline with Green policy. Are you talking about Rob Ford, or are you talking about something else? _________________ Wayne Gretzky > Dale Hawerchuk > all other hockey players
I voted Conservative, because I wanted to finally give them a shot - put up or shut up time. I figured they were good for the economy and the Liberals still needed to sort their shit out.
Man do I regret my vote. Harper muzzles his party, witholds information from the media, bullies the opposition, and is up to the same money-wasting and corruption that they criticize the Liberals for.
And to top it all off, look at his cabinet of all-stars:
Jason Kenney - refuses to apologize for calling a provincial politician in an e-mail a "giant asshole".
Peter McKay - uses government helicopters to get back from holiday, and lies about the cost of fighter jets.
Rob Anders - called Nelson Mandela a terrorist and communist.
Vic Toewes - said that if you prefer internet privacy, you're essentially defending child porn.
and to top it all off, they made angry John Baird the foreign minister. I could go on, there's more.
Ugh... If I could change the reuslt of the last election, I would.
Sorry for the rant. Kenney necessitated it. He pissed me off.
...and my two cents:

Don't forget when Rob Anders fell asleep at the meeting for homeless veterans... and then blamed it on a smear campaign from 'NDP hacks'.
Canadian politics is really sad right now.
When Jason Kenney called that Albertan politician a giant asshole in an official e-mail, he wouldn't apologize initially. In the House of Commons, when called to apologize, instead, he insulted the NDP and Liberals - not addressing the issue at all. It's like asking a child to apologize for calling another child names, and instead, he calls you fat. I'm really disappointed with the childish pettiness on display from our elected Conservatives.
This just emerged in the news: Rob Anders has claimed that Thomas Mulcair's ambitions for NDP leadership pushed Jack Layton into campaigning while he had cancer, thereby aiding in his death.
This is stupid because:
1. Jack Layton had doctor's clearance, with no trace of the cancer when he ran.
2. Jack Layton was not threatened by Thomas Mulcair
3. Thomas Mulcair was not looking to usurp Layton.
4. Rob Anders should leave the dead alone.
5. Rob Anders said it, and anything he says is moronic. Check out www.voteoutanders.com It's no wonder that Harper has essentially muzzled him.

Oh, shit, just saw this now...
Overall, haven't the Green Party been against the expansion of the rocket line up north into Vaughn? I recall them being more center focused and poised to expand the LRT system, which is mostly set to go into areas already easily reachable by transit while those in the North will remain more or less TTC stranded, and deter the urbanization of York. _________________ A dick that's bigger than the sun.
Wish more politicians would talk like that. I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to Canadian politics but that Anders guy sounds like a twat.
As for politicians falling asleep, bookies were actually taking bets on whether Ken Clarke would fall asleep during George Osborne's (the chancellor) speech last year. They had to pay out aswell.
Thing is I actually love both these guys, proper gentlemen. At least they've got the excuse of being old. _________________ Shut up mate you're boring!
So after 44 years of Conservative rule (that's right, since 1971 people...) the Alberta people have finally voted another party in, and the left-of-centre NDP no less. This is a historic shift. I've always complained about the lack of change in Albertan politics, and I've always felt that Alberta was much more progressive than the politics showed. It seems all it needed was a pissed off electorate and a great campaign by the NDP, and presto - Rachel Notley Premier.

Alberta is now run by a collective of 25 year old with no experience (or interest) in political and economic theory. The person who got elected in my riding (blue collar) is a lesbian mixed race born out of country 25 year old student aid with a self professed learning disability (I cant make this shit up) who did not think it was important to show up to any of the leadership debates. She has nothing in common with the people of my riding. Thanks vote splitting and SWPLs!!!!!!!
It will be interesting to see what incarnation of the NDP party it will take. The socially conservative prairie NDP (CCF) style that actually cares about blue collar workers or the dildo metropolitan bourgeoisie eastern style NDP that actually fucking despises BC workers. My guess is the latter.
It will be a nice opportunity for alberta to take a stand against Ottawa though which was impossible before because it would have caused a civil war within the PC. It also might be useful for oil and gas development, namely pipelines, because Notley can paint it in shit lib rhetoric which will make it an easier pill to swallow for the rest of the country. Hopefully she actually cares for the wellbeing of the province and does just this. _________________ Alt Right meme game on point

with no experience (or interest) in political and economic theory.
Notley's BA in poly sci appears to show some interest, and her 21 years of political experience really should count. Other notable cases are Sarah Hoffman (age 34) who served on a school board, Ward G, and was a research director for the party, Deron Bilous (age 39) who has been running for 7 years and in office for 4, David Eggen (age 52) who has served for 11 years, and Joe Ceci (age 57) who spent 15 years in a city council as Alderman. Those are just random ones who have some political experience, did not look through all the candidates because I just can't be bothered.

K we get it, it's Estefania Cortes-Vargas. You know, just cuz she's 25 doesn't mean the whole party is, right?

I can find one record of this, and even then, that could be dyslexia, which hasn't held back Bush (well...), Rockefeller, JFK, Churchhill, etc. With the way they get labeled where I live, my lisp means I had a learning disability, too, as well as the kid in my classes who can't say "R"s and the one with well treated ADHD.

So far as I can find, she missed one meeting about the school and hospital budgets.

She had enough to get elected. Don't be too butthurt.

I was gonna count the logical fallacies in this sentence and I'd lost track by here, and yet you go on

Ah yes those "dildo metropolitan bourgeoisie eastern style" folks. You know, it's a special moment when you say words in an order that no one else ever has. Let's all just take in that moment together to find some good in all of this.

Well, there's already articles coming out saying that specifically because of Notley's election, the Enbridge Northern Gateway pipeline may not be able to be completed. Also
Rachel Notley wrote:
Gateway is not the right decision. I think that there's just too much environmental sensitivity there and I think there's a genuine concern by the indigenous communities. It's not going to go ahead. I think most people know that.

I don't even know what you want anymore. I'm just out here. Peace. _________________
