Yeah, you know what, I am. I'm sick and goddamn tired of you coming on here and thoughtlessly spreading bile and vitriol. These aren't hypothetical people you're offending, these aren't even just real people who aren't seeing this, these are people HERE.

I was born with a DSD. I identify as, at the very least, bicurious, and probably bisexual. A close friend of mine just came out. 2 of my 3 close childhood friends are out of the closet now. There have been friends that have come out to me first and I've had to help them when their parents and family would not accept them. You know for a fact that several members of this site are members of the LGBT community and have been hurt by what you do, and yet you continue to post things like this.

My ex-girlfriend, who I still care about a lot and am lucky to call a good friend, is half-latina, like the woman you attacked. In fact, most of my cousins are half-latino as well, not to include my uncle and countless other friends. My favorite teacher is half-chinese. There are probably people on this site who are "mixed race" as well.

Should I care about all of this? No, this should all just be water off my back, you're just some person behind a screen and you can't hurt me. But I get enough of this in real life. I've been called a kike and faggot and a Hebrew, and my friends ridiculed for being "chinks", "fags", "dykes", "trannies", "pigs", the world's a mean place and I come here to get away from it all. People have been mean in the past, and you know what? They get banned. Even for joking about some of this stuff, they get banned. And you come here, and post this crap, time after time, not just joking, but legitimately believing this, and legitimately hurting and offending people here. This is my safe place and you don't make me feel safe, and I know I'm not alone in that.

So yeah, I am mad.

The PCs were in power 44 years. There was scandal after scandal. They had been allowed to get lazy and careless because incredible oil royalties masked their mistakes. They had foolishly been creating holes in the government revenue stream by reducing taxes (especially benefiting corporations and the wealthy) and royalties assuming oil prices would continue. A short sighted, careless entitled bunch of hacks who needed to go.

The NDP in Alberta is not an anti-business gang of socialists (I won't even get into the ignorant labels Bong threw around). They want to raise corporate taxes from 10% to 12%. In 2000, the corporate taxes were 15%. This will not cripple the economy. They know Alberta`s bread is buttered by the oilpatch, and they're not going to jeopardize that. Ideologues will paint the 'socialist bureaucracy economic destroyers' picture because they want to suit their own perspective. It's not worthwhile trying to argue with someone who's already made up their mind in such an emotional way.

As far as the youth and inexperience - how many experienced MLAs were there when Lougheed swept to power in 1971? How many experienced MPs did Harper have when the Cons won their government in 2006? Sure, some NDP MLAs are really green. Some are not (MLAs, city councilors, trustees, business, professors, etc...) Who will form cabinet, while who will gain experience in the backbench?

Time will tell if the new NDP government is effective. Let's not pre-judge based on fear. They certainly have a good chance of improving on the last lot of inept entitled putzes.

Craaaaazy. I was in class for most of the results, but I was watching it on my phone with a few other guys. I couldn't believe it when Trudeau swept the east coast.

I thought it'd be way closer. I was thinking a 35/30/28 kinda split. Mulcair is probably feeling like shit right now... he barely won his own riding Laughing

But yeah. New Canada on the way maybe?

John Oliver's episode last night was hilarious btw.

Actually, I'd argue that after 10 years of Conservative rule, Canada may stand a chance to return to normal: Normal political tone, normal foreign policy, normal social policy.

It reminded me of Alberta - a wave of discontentment with the right wing ruling party (or in this case - leader) led voters to sweep a progressive party to a surprise victory. More than anything, I'd say this was an anti-Harper vote. People I talked to seemed sick of his controlling, cynical, politicking ways. I for one support the change. We needed to remove Harper. Maybe now the Conservatives can go back to being the PCs.

I'm curious to see what Trudeau does with this majority. He made a lot of promises, some of which would signal significant (and positive) change.

Results here - http://www.cbc.ca/news2/interactives/results-2015/

PS - In my local riding, the Liberal nearly knocked off the Conservative incumbent. In Calgary, that's a big deal (it did actually happen in two other Calgary ridings.) A disappointing result, but I'm happy with the national results.
