- Post subject: Rank the Albums in Any Discography
|
I could have sworn we had a thread for this, but I can't find it through search, so maybe we haven't. Basically, do just as the title says - rank every release or studio album or EP or single or whatever you define a discography as for whatever artist you wish. Hopefully we can foster a sense of discussion about some lesser known bands or less regarded periods of certain artists' work instead of just making endless lists, but we'll see how that goes.

Good idea!
I'll start with Bob Dylan, I've always found that ranking his discography (especially when it comes to his 80s stuff) can be interesting and really varied (I'd be especially interested to hear Mercury's take on this):
Blood On The Tracks
Another Side Of Bob Dylan
Blonde On Blonde
Freewheelin Bob Dylan
Highway 61 Revisited
Bringing It All Back Home
Basement Tapes
Desire
The Times They Are A-Changin
Planet Waves
Nashville Skyline
Modern Times
Oh Mercy
New Morning
John Wesley Harding
Street Legal
Slow Train Coming
Time Out Of Mind
Infidels
Shot Of Love
Empire Burlesque
Love And Theft
Bob Dylan
World Gone Wrong
Together Through Life
Tempest
Good As I Been To You
Saved
Self Portrait
Under The Red Sky
edit: added the color-coding system and changed yellow to orange to make it more legible _________________ 2023 Chart

The Mike Love-era is just abysmal in general.

it's weird 'cause i was under the impression the Mike Love era was just album after album after album, but it's really quite a bit shorter (if we're just counting Mike Love with no Brian Wilson) as far as album releases than I had thought. i guess the cash-in there was in touring with Uncle Jesse and releasing Nascar compilations.
