I had no idea who the Pixies were until 2007, to be fair. Had I heard them mentioned? Sure, but that's about it.

My mom has never heard of Kendrick Lamar, but she has heard of Engelbert Humperdinck.

the skimming and de-contextualizing is strong in this thread

I think it is more of our observations.

Nevermind is a really great album btw.

I feel like I'm doing a far better job placing things into proper context and explaining both sides of this feeble argument than you are, but that's just my opnion Very Happy

it's really news to me if they're not???

Maybe I just am dealing with weird people but people don't seem to know Train in the East Coast now. Or if they do, they know maybe just Hey Soul Sister.

Checking Spotify, the average Coldplay song in their top 10 has been streamed 123,637,029.4 times. The average Train song in their top 10 has been streamed 40,375,620.8 times, approximately 1/3 of Coldplay's streams. By last.fm's listeners stat, the average song in the top 10 for Coldplay has 1,243,388.5 listeners to Train's 244,088.7 - Coldplay winning by 5 times. Estimated net worths vary HUGELY, but Pat Monahan seems to have an estimated net worth of $8-30 million to Chris Martin's $ 90-140 million. In terms of RIAA certifications, Train has 2/7 Platinum, 1/7 2x Platinum, 2/7 Gold, and 2/7 which did not earn an RIAA certification. Coldplay has had 1/6 Gold, 1/6 Platinum, 2/6 2x Platinum, 1/6 4x Platinum, and 1/6 3x Platinum, making them considerably better selling. Single wise, Coldplay has 6 gold singles, a platinum single, and a 6 times platinum single, Train has 5 gold singles, a platinum single, a 3 times platinum single, and a 6 times platinum single, making them the better selling singles artist in the US, but if you look worldwide, Coldplay starts to decimate them. I dunno, maybe it's hard to compare, but Train seems to be way less famous than I thought.

Also I just spent a solid half hour doing Coldplay vs Train mass send help.

I never heard Where Is My Mind played once on the radio where I'm from and most people I ever brought up Pixies to had no idea about it, even if I showed them the song, but that's just from my hometown.

Shouldn't we have had the same stations, frankly? LIVE 105 has played it at least a few times ... I think Wave of Mutilation too. Hell, in 2011, there was a special "Pixies night" where every time they played a Pixies song and you called in, you'd be entered for some prize. I can't actually find proof of them playing Pixies since January, but that's mostly because that was the Subsonic playlist, which is the only thing you can search for more than 1 day at a time and I don't feel like scrolling much.

Seriously though I'd like to join in this discussion but I'm completely lost as to what you guys are actually arguing. The prevalence of Pixies on the radio? I don't know if this helps but they're played on Sirius Satellite Radio all of the time.

The group alelsupreme is in is strikingly obvious and I'm surprised no one has pointed it out yet.
