I don't want to post here premature, but I just want everyone to know it looks like John Prine isn't doing too well. He was hit hard with the virus a couple days ago, and I think has all but stated he believes he won't make it. His wife has also tested positive.

Wishing them the best.

Go here for the picture of my mom and me with Joe Diffie at my one and only CMA Music Festival in 2000 which was known as Fan Fair at the time.

God bless you and his family and the rest of his fan base always!!!

Holly

P.S. I have a picture of us together when I saw him in 2007, but it was taken with one of them instant cameras and so the shot isn't as good as this one is.

Ellis Marsalis and Adam Schlesinger have both died of COVID-19.

I can imagine Ellis Marsalis would've had a huge New Orleans funeral... not sure what's going to happen.

And while Schlesinger might be best known for Stacy's Mom, he's still one of only 100 or so people to get at a Oscar, Grammy, Emmy and Tony nom. Sad to see him go too.

Man, I can't believe all of this stuff happening. Unfortuantely, it makes sense, because of a musician's lifestyle. Love the Marsalis family, and all they've done for jazz.

BTW

Utopia Parkway by Fountains Of Wayne

This album is actually some pretty great power pop, unfortunate that most people only know the other song. Check this out if you want.

Their previous album was maybe even better. Some of the best power pop of the 90s for sure.

Yeah, big fan of first four Fountains of Wayne albums. I'd go with Utopia Parkway as the pick of them as well, but they were consistently strong. I see them as Weezer's near equals (I love both) and in some ways FOW were better (there's a gentle witty charm that Weezer lack). Schlesinger was a classy songwriter- so much more to his catalogue than Stacey's mom alone. I don't really know his film work but I'm a fan of his music for the very good TV show Crazy ex Girlfriend. Sad to hear he has passed.

Geeze, it's like a revolving door nowadays.

Bill Withers has passed on. Not due to Covid.

Appropriately, there "Ain't No Sunshine" here today.

What a great songwriter he was.

I don't know why I'm writing in short sentences.

Go here for both a recent clip and write up on Joe Diffie.

God bless you and his family always!!!

Holly

P.S. It is very much appreciated how much has been shared about Joe, especially when maybe at the end of the day, the family doesn't owe the fans much if anything at all. I do remember hearing Joe say on the radio years ago that the fans are who keep celebrities going and so if I have ever overstepped in any way by caring about my favorites so much to where I may ask about things that might be private, I do apologize. To me, people as wonderful as Joe deserve all of the thought and respect in the world, especially when respect is what comes from people like him first. Smile Smile Smile
