Tom Petty was the first artist whose album I bought for myself. Crying or Very sad
So many memories - I lived on the border of Reseda.
Such a part of my life.

I adored Tom Petty's music. Such a huge part of my life's soundtrack.

He's another one of those artists that simply can never be replaced. Nobody sounded like him.

Love me some Fats. His voice and jangly playing was fantastic. Thanks for all the good times Fats.

Don't see any mention in this thread of the passing, last week, of one of the greatest Canadians of all time (as both a rock and roll original and a person), Gord Downie of the Tragically Hip.

Seems now confirmed. Males in their teens and early twenties can be particulary volatile and also vulnerable. Terribly sad.

I only heard a few of his songs and I wasn't a big fan honestly, but this shocked me when I saw it on Pitchfork this morning. Even though he was relatively unknown, it's crazy how much fame he had accumulated over just a few months, and it really seemed like he was about to start a small movement in rap. I might be exaggerating, but I feel affected by this, more than I would have expected myself to feel.

I saw it on some channel today. Had no clue who the guy was, but listened to some of his stuff after hearing of his death. Would've loved to see how he developed musically.

Today, Mel Tillis passed at the ripe age of 85. Mel Tillis is a country music legend, and was a great songwriter with a voice that was clear and resonant. He had a slew of his own top 10 hits and wrote many others for other artists.
