I saw Aretha live a few years back, and she was phenomenal. Incredible all-around musicianship, she was far beyond just being a 'singer'. One of the best.
RIP.

The top story in my Yahoo News this morning was about singer Jill Janus committing suicide at age 43. I had never heard of her or her metal band, Huntress. Nevertheless it's tragic when someone mentally ill commits suicide at a young age.

^^^ My newest favorite singer, Steve Sanders of the Oak Ridge Boys that is, took his life at the age of 45 just over twenty years ago. I've seen the mental illness phrase put with his name at least once. Because of what I have learned about him so far, I don't believe that mental illness is what drove him to shooting himself, but if it was, I believe that them feelings were only stimulated by those who made it as clear as glass that they didn't want anything more to do with him.
God bless you and those who have loved him longer than me always!!!
Holly
P.S. Steve is at the top of this picture and his ex-wife only succeeded in painting him to look like a monster to where his daughter did not want anything more to do with him. The only person who actually took up for him at all any was the lady who went onto be the widow. What his ex-wife did with the help of his daughter is what made him lose his spot in the singing group. The other members didn't want his marital mess to make them look bad. Well in my opinion, the way that they decided to look at the matter is what makes them look bad to this day still. Wow, with friends like them, who the heck needs enemies??? There used to be clips at the You Tube website concerning his passing and they showed just how bad things were between him and his daughter. At one point, she is shown completely tearing into him. Another clip that used to be at You Tube was of him trying to defend himself on a talk show named Leeza in early 1996. Steve said on there at one point, "I have a grandchild now that I may never get to see." Its on his daughter's Face Book page that the mental illness phrase is put with his name. (Her page isn't hard to find with her name being as uncommon as it is.) The only thing that I have to say about the sticker that she places on her dad is this: "Yeah sure, whatever gets you to sleep at night, you little word that I can not say!" _________________ Me & my favorite singer James Otto

I never thought of him as being that young. Another life gone from drugs (supposedly). A shame.
