I'm more of a casual hip-hop fan - but here's some suggestions that you might like. You seem to have similar taste to me.

Listen to some Aesop Rock - for lyrically intelligent stuff you can't get much better than him. The beats are great too, but maybe a bit harder than you're looking for. Just pick an album, although I've heard his latest is quite accessible if you're looking to get into him.

Personally, I love Childish Gambino and find his stuff to be lyrically strong - Because the Internet is one of my favourite hip-hop albums. Might be worth a listen, but again, some harder beats, and he's not to everyone's taste.

Shabazz Palaces is good - very experimental, but worth it.

On the more grime side, Ed Scissor (or Scissorhands on his first album) is pretty great. Dark, gritty, but incredibly dense lyrically. Check out Better.Luck.Next.Life.

All good suggestions so far.
I'd like to add a few recs to the list:
Saul Williams - Self Titled
Saul Williams - The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of Niggy Tardust
Astronautalis - This Is Our Science
Atmosphere - When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold
The Roots - Game Theory

intelligent/chill... but not hardcore. First thing that comes to mind is

Common - Resurrection

I don't know why Public Enemy - It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back didn't come to mind first though. I guess it isn't the most chill. You'd probably like Doomtree.

Based on your taste in Tribe:
The Jungle Brothers - Straight Out The Jungle
The Jungle Brothers - Done By The Forces Of Nature
De La Soul - 3 Feet High And Rising
De La Soul - De La Soul Is Dead
A Tribe Called Quest - Midnight Marauders
A Tribe Called Quest - People's Instinctive Travels And The Paths Of Rhythm
Pete Rock And C.L. Smooth - Mecca And The Soul Brother
Main Source - Breaking Atoms
Black Sheep - A Wolf In Sheep's Clothing
Diamond D And The Psychotic Neurotics - Stunts, Blunts, And Hip Hop
The Coup - Steal This Album
Organized Konfusion - Organized Konfusion

I don't know if the production will be up to your standards but they're all classics held in pretty high regard. The golden era of rap might suit you if you haven't tried it. Listen to a few 80's rap songs: Slick Rick - Children's Story. EPMD - Strictly Business. Boogie Down Productions - Stop The Violence. Biz Markie - Vapors. Eric B and Rakim - I Ain't No Joke. Big Daddy Kane - Ain't No Half Steppin. Grandmaster Flash - The Message. Kurtis Blow - If I Ruled The World. I could cry listening to these songs, knowing nothing like them will ever be written again. Things were so organic, friendly, and fun back then (EDIT: just talking production-wise - the DJ/rapper relationship that doesn't exist any more).
