More albums of 2001:
- Comfort Eagle by Cake (nr 34): Not my thing
- Drukqs by Aphex Twin (nr 35): sometimes I can appreciate things of Aphex Twin but not this one
- Tenacious D by Tenacious D (nr 37): I've got nothing with the background surrounding these guys and I didn't like the album at all.
- Fever by Kylie Minogue (nr 38 ): this is a very lightweight album
- Those Who Tell The Truth Shall Die, Tho...In The Sky (nr 40): some interesting pieces especially on the last track but not enough to make this a worthwile album.
- Your Favorite Weapon by Brand New (nr 41): they got better on later albums but this first one sucks
- cLOUDDEAD by cLOUDDEAD (nr 43): atmospheric hiphop: something else but not my thing
- The Invisible Band by Travis (nr 44): with Travis I always think: this is not really good and with the first tracks of this album, Sing, I still thought this and also on the first other tracks but then Flowers In The Window comes along and I think: what a little gem of a song; so I listen back to Side and I think: not bad either; and some of the other tracks are not bad either and I'm sold. Travis will never be the best band in the world but somehow good enough to camp at the lower side of my personal chart of 2001.

The next album to listen to is Confield by Autechre.

There's more:
- Confield by Autechre (nr 46 in the overall BEA top chart of 2001): again one of those albums with too many bleeps
- Girls Can Tell by Spoon (nr 47): there are Spoon albums I listened to which were quite good but this one wasn't although one track was enjoyable: Believing Is Art
- Brushfire Fairytales by Jack Johnson (nr 48 ): not my thing at all
- B.R.M.C. by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (nr 49): I liked this one and nearly every track was good. Not great but good and well enough to appear in my top chart of the year
- Let It Come Down by Spiritualized (nr 50): this one was a very pleasant surprise. With it somewhat psychedelic sound it really gave me good vibes, this album.
- Simple Things by Zero 7 (nr 51): not my thing.

The next album to listen to is Jessico by Babasonicos.

These are my last entries for the year 2001:
- Jessico by Babasónicos (nr 52 on the overall BEA top chart of 2001): this is not a bad record and especilly Fizz is a good track but overall not very original.
- Aaliyah by Aaliyah (nr 53): not my thing at all
- 10,000 Hz Legend by Air (nr 54): This is in my opinion a much better album than Moon Safari because it has a warmer sound not in the least because of the presence of Beck on a number of tracks. Still not completely my cup of tea though.

And this ends my journey through 2001, not the best year in rock and I didn't really discover anything new (apart from Ben Folds, a Nick Cave I hadn't explored yet completely, etc).

And I've already listened to the first one:
-Ys by Joanna Newsom (nr 3 on the overall BEA top chart of 2006): I've already tried a few times to find this album because it wasn't available on Apple Music but now it is. I can very much appreciate the uniqueness of this record not in the least because of the very strange voice and the long stories Joanna Newsom is telling. This is one of those albums for which I should make a special effort to listen back to it but for the moment I don't really love it also because after a while it gets a bit repetitive.

The next album to listen to is Back To Black by Amy Winehouse.

Yeah. I LOVE this album & think it's better than Moon Safari too. But, I really like Air.

My second post for many more 2006 albums I listened to:
- Back To Black by Amy Winehouse (nr 4 on the overall BEA top chart of 2006): I'm not really a fan of her voice and of her music
- Sam's Town by The Killers (nr 6): Sometimes I I like the Killers but this is not their best album
- The Black Parade by My Chemical Romance (nr 7): must be one of the worst emo albums ever
- 10,000 Days by Tool (nr 9): another Tool album which reminds me that I will probably never will get into Tool
- Donuts by J Dilla (nr 10): not my thing
- Silent Shout by The Knife (nr 11): idem
- The Crane Wife by The Decemberists (nr 13): another gem discovered: this folky but however rock album was a very nice discovery with no track which jumped out but all are very interesting
- Continuum by John Mayer (nr 14): a bit too mellow for my taste
- Return To Cookie Mountain by TV On The Radio (nr 16): not my thing
- Yellow House by Grizzly Bear (nr 18 ): overall not bad but without any real highlights
- FutureSex/LoveSounds by Justin Timberlake (nr 21): I don't know why albums like this end up high on BEA charts
- Gulag Orkestar by Beirut (nr 25): interesting sound but not enough to keep it going for a full album
And now three albums which I didn't expect to like but surprised me:
- Everything All The Time by Band Of Horses (nr 27): what a good album this was: lots of varity and good tracks not only the Funeral but also The Great Salt Lake, Weed Party and Mosters.
- Begin To Hope by Regina Spektor (nr 29): this girl has a mind of her own but I like it especially on this album: Samson is the highlight but there are others especially where the piano plays a major role.
- Mr Beast by Mogwai (nr 32): I thought I had it a bit with postrock but this album is in fact fairly concise and again here: the piano songs (piano in postrock?) like Friend Of The Night are the best.
- St. Elsewhere by Gnarls Barkley (nr 34): that year I went crazy from Crazy and the same goes for the rest of the album: interesting version of Gone Daddy Gone though

The next album to listen to is Fox Confessor Brings The Flood by Neko Case.

Thx Seth. Well it does help to complete my year charts: ex people pointed out that there’s a lot missing in my 1967 year chart but that’s because I haven’t covered that year yet.
On the other hand it makes me realise that there is a lot of music I just don’t like in the top 2500 and that the real gems are often hidden below rank 2500.

I bet. I'm very interested in someday doing the same. I like cultural history, so makes sense to tackle it per year, etc. You are pretty close to getting to now - will you start over and do the same 5 year break between, just in different intervals?

Hi Seth,I’m actually doing that: I started in 1963 and did 5 year intervals until 2013, then restarted in 1964 to 2014, then 1965 to 2015, then 1966 to now 2006; after that cycle I’ll restart at 1967 to 2017, which means I wil have covered every year from 1963 to 2017.
