It's already one month ago since I last posted something on 2007 albums I listened to but here is a fairly long list:
- Cease To Begin by Band Of Horses (nr 27 on the overall BEA top chart of 2007): this was actually a very good album with no real highlights but also without any clunkers.
- Raising Sand by Robert Plant And Alison Krauss (nr 28 ): this album really disappointed me. Usually I like Plant's solo/duo work but this collaboration sounds really uninspired except from one major exception: Please Read The Letter is a great song; and to be honest also Fortune Teller and Nothin' are not bad. But overall not an album I would include in my personal top chart of the year
- Mirrored by Battles (nr 31): there is one really good track here: the long and hypnotising Atlas. But that was all so again not one of my favorite albums of the year
- Night Falls Over Kortedala by Jens Lekman (nr 34): I like some of the Jens Lekman albums and his style on this album is faire similar to people like Neil Hannon from Divine Comedy but this album is just too much...cheesy and just bad songs. It was a torture to get through this album
- Lupe Fiasco's The Cool by Lupe Fiasco (nr 36): fairly traditional hiphop and not my thing
- Riot! by Paramore (nr 37): to me this has nothing to do with punk but everything with some kind of derivative nu-metal
- Year Zero by Nine Inch Nails (nr 39): not the best NIN album I know. The first part is not bad, the second completely not my thing and overall not really good
- Minutes To Midnight by Linkin Park (nr 40): again everything I don't like about , also overdue, nu-metal
- White Chalk by PJ Harvey (nr 41): again a very PJ Harvey album but on the other hand not because this one sounds very spooky and sparse (with nearly only piano). But as with most of her albums, it doesn't really click with me.

The next album is Puzzle by Biffy Clyro which is just hitting my ears with a bang (just listen to the opening moments of the album and you'll know what I mean): at the moment I don't really know what to think of it because I have never heard anything of this one.
Btw after that big bang it goes on in a very symphonic way...

Some more albums of 2007 Iistened to:
- Puzzle by Biffy Clyro (nr 42 on the overall BEA top chart of 2007): Finally not my thing
- Infinity On High by Fall Out Boy (nr 43): certainly not my thing
- Emotionalism by The Avett Brothers (nr 44): some of the harmonics are not bad but there's not enough of that to save this album
- Armchair Apocrypha by Andrew Bird (nr 46): like on his other Eggs album I'm between a rock and a hard place: in some instances I really like this album but in the end it's just not of interest to me enough to include it in my personal top chart
- The Con by Tegan And Sara (nr 47): at first I thought I didn't know them but they sounded familiar until I heard Back In Your Head which was a major radio hit in Belgium and had heard just a little too much. Also the other tracks were not my thing
- Myths Of The Near Future by Klaxons (nr 48 ): the kind of dancerock that sounds uninspired

The next album to listen to is one I might actually like in this year which was to me one of the worst years in music: People That Can Eat People Are The Luckiest People In The World by Andrew Jackson Jihad.

And this is the final list of albums to listen to from the year 2007:
- Marry Me by St. Vincent (nr 49 on the overall BEA top chart of 2007): One of those artists I don't feel a connection with
- People That Can Eat People Are The Luck...rld by AJJ (nr 50): I liked this album much less than I thought I would
- And Their Refinement Of The Decline by ...Of The Lid (nr 52): no musicality to be found here
- Life In Cartoon Motion by Mika (nr 53): I don't dislike this album but it's maybe a bit too cartoonesk for me
- Blackbird by Alter Bridge (nr 56): not the best hardrock album in the world but the title track persueded me to integrate this album in my 2007 personal chart
- Avenged Sevenfold by Avenged Sevenfold (nr 58 ): I discovered this band only recently helped by Tilly and also this album is a very good hardrock album overall
- The Stage Names by Okkervil River (nr 59): not their best album and I especially found the harder tracks at the start not too compelling but the slower tracks near the end convinced me to chart this album
- Systematic Chaos by Dream Theater (nr 60 and the last album of 2007 in the overall BEA top 2500): I will never be a fan of DT but this album has some good guitar parts and I even liked The Ministry of Lost Souls. But finally eeerr... no

So this is the end of my journey into 2007 albums which is not the best year in music for me proven by the fact that only the first three album in the list hereunder appear in my overall top 250.

This was also the last year of the 2000's decade I covered so like always there are still a few loose ends to tackle and I already listened to one fantastic album that has recently made it to the overall top 2500 I hadn't yet listened to:
- La Ley Innata by Extremoduro (nr 47 in the BEA 2008 chart and nr 2328): this Spanish sung album is described as prog but to me this is a just a beautiful album with long well-written guitar based songs. A fantastic discovery

I'm now listening to Velocity:Design:Comfort by Sweet Trip

Here are some more albums I hadn't listened to from the years 2000-2009:
- Velocity : Design : Comfort by Sweet Trip (nr 38 of 2003 and nr 1624 overall): not my thing
- Quebec by Ween (nr 43 of 2003 and nr 1745 overall): Ween is one of this bands I really want to learn to appreciate but until now didn't really but this album caught my attention. I'm still not a big fan of their more goofy stuff but this album contains some genuinely good music I really liked and could even like more after a few listens. Definitely one for my 2003 personal chart.
- Brand New Eyes by Paramore (nr 39 of 2009 and nr 2091overall): one of the examples why this decade was the worst overall.
- Love Ire & Song by Frank Turner (nr 43 of 2008 and nr 2217 overall): I see that this album gets a lot of love by some people but I couldn't really get into it although it sounded fairly pleasant overall.
- Labor Days by Aesop Rock (nr 46 of 2001 and nr 2294 overall): another hiphop album not really my thing
- Marbles by Marillion (nr 44 on the BEA year rank of 2004 and ranked 2374 overall): I never thought I would ever say something positive about a Marillion album but this is the first post-Fish album I listen to and I fairly like it. I like the voice of Steve Hogarth much better than the one of Fish and the references generally made to U2 (the guitae) and Pink Floyd (the general atmospere) is not the worst references you can make. Although I think it makes much more sense to make the comparison with Steven Wilson who has helped with the production of this album. OK again maybe the songs are a bit too long and I think I'll have to give this album one or more additional spins before making an actual decision but for the moment I'm gonna include this one in my 2004 personal chart.
- The Silent Force by Within Temptation (nr 47 of 2004 and nr 2446): the same can't be said about this album. I don't like their other albums and I don't like this bombastic nitwit.

The next album to listen to is I'm Like A Virgin Losing A Child by the Manchester Orchestra.

I discovered that I had already listened to the Manchester Orchestra album so there is only album from the top 2500 of this decade to listen to:
- Bachelor No. 2 by Aimee Mann (nr 55 of 2000 and nr 2481 overall): this album started well but gradual it started losing my interest so finally a no

And this ends this journey in this decade and you can find my of course not final final decade top 100 here:
Top 100 Music Albums of the 2000s by dihansse

And with only two years remaining to cover in the 2010's and some aditional loose ends from other years these are some intermediary stats:

Of the overall BEA top 2500 there are:
93 I excluded because not regular albums (live/best of)
168 I listened to earlier but aren't in my top charts
610 I listened to earlier and are in my top charts
which left 1629 albums to listen to in this project of which
1035 I didn't like enough to include in my top charts
487 I liked enough to include in my top charts
107 still to listen to

Currently I have 2617 albums in my top chart of which:
1097 are part of the overall BEA top 2500
1520 are not part of the overall BEA top 2500 so I'm not really following the BEA crowd but that's true for most of the BEA crowd anyway Laughing

So the next year to cover from the 2010's after skipping 5 years from 2007 is 2012.

While I think the latter years of this decade where very good I still attach 2012 to the latter 2000's, a not so good decade in my opinion. This will be proven by my very short comments on the top albums of this particular year:
- An Awesome Wave by ∆ (alt-J) (nr 4 on the overall BEA top chart of 2012): not my thing
- The Money Store by Death Grips (nr 6): not my thing
- The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than The Drive...iona Apple (nr 7): not my thing
- The Seer by Swans (nr 8 ): not my thing
- Born To Die by Lana Del Rey (nr 9): not my thing
- Visions by Grimes (nr 10): not my thing
And I listened to them all (+ was already familiar with most of them because many had a lot of airplay on the Belgian radio)

The next album to listen to is 2 by Mac DeMarco.

Before I go back to the 2012: These last weeks I have been listening to too many albums that weren't really in my league so I wanted to go back to a band I know I like but haven't given the attention they deserve, Versus, and there were two reasons for chosing them:
- they released a great EP this month which unfortunately doesn't qualify to be included on BEA because only four tracks with less than 20 minutes of play time. But I recommend to give it a spin.
- some recent interactions with Tilly on their predecessors Flower and me realising I in fact only knew one album of Versus: The Stars Are Insane. So I wanted to discover more and it was worth it.

Versus took their name from the Mission Of Burma album and started in 1992 with the Philipino/American Brothers Baluyut and Fontaine Toups who added the female touch to this great indie band which after a few singles started in 1993 with the electrifying EP Let's Electrify which according to me is also their best work especially with the great and long because ending in a bit of electrifying chaos Seaweed Rising.
This was quickly followed up by I suppose their most known The Stars Are Insane in 1993 and in 1994 they released a compilation of their earliest work Dead Leaves. The other 90's albums quickly followed in the form of Secret Swingers (1996) and Two Cents Plus Tax on which they already started to shape their originally very alternative into a more melodical form which didn't do them any bad musically because to me they stayed in top form also in their 2000 album Hurrah (I know: not everybody shares this opinion).

After a ten year hiatus they rejoined and released the also very good The One And Threes and after another 10 year hiatus they seem to be back with maybe, who knows another full album...

All in all one of the quintessential indie bands which are very underrated also because of the fact that I had to revert to Youtube for two of their albums because they are not available anymore in another way.
