Slightly ahead of schedule, I'm glad to announce that it's time for BEA film poll focusing on the 50's Cool Diving into the peaks career moments of Kubrick, Fellini, Godard and Bergman.

I'm looking forward to how this one will turn out. Rules are the same as all the other times, but here's a reminder.

The gist/ rules:

BEA's composes a list of our favourite films of the 50's Smile

Anything with an American release date past January 1st 1950 will be accepted. Documentaries will be allowed, but shorts (<25 min) will not. This is in correspondence to the 60's thread. No films released past December 31st 1959 will be accepted.

All lists will be PMed to me, maxing out at 100. The final list will be 100 films. This time around, I'll be accepting lists of any denotation up to 100. The size of your list determines it's weight.

Lists will also be accepted in IMDb and Letterboxd format. Deadline will be May 14th.

Some notes about what will be accepted:
The Red Balloon
Night and Fog

What will not be accepted:
One Froggy Evening
Neighbours
Duck Amuck
Duck Dodgers in the 24½th Century

(other films will probably be added later)

I feel ya. Haven't seen as much as you have probably, but yeah the 50s is the one I've been looking forward to for awhile. The 40s will be fun too.

I think a film with a number in the title will be number one Laughing

Just kidding, but actually... Maybe. The question is which one?

Laughing

Quite possibly.

The reason this is starting earlier than planned is because I will be quite busy throughout mid-May to mid-July, and I didn't feel like waiting until August to do this poll.

Also, this morning I watched a film called Kanal for the first time, and I thought it was fantastic. One of the most interesting war movies I've watched. It might even land somewhere in my top 10 of the decade. Definitely recommend people give it a watch.

Brilliant list, Gowi. Love the mix of classic Hollywood, noir, and Japanese masters, etc. Question: have you had a change to watch much Satyajit Ray? He has at least 4 brilliant films that I loved from the 50s in (in order of my faves) "The World of Apu", "Aparajito", "Pather Panchali", and "The Music Room".

Did I forget to add Pather Panchali? Shit. That's my favorite of his. I also like The World of Apu but that didn't make my list, I think.

EDIT: Fixed.
