Dang, AotD's like this are why I will always miss Satie.
I'm pretty sure we'll do alright without him, though.

I absolutely love this album. I loved it when it came out and I still love every track.
Yes, Mumford & Sons became formulaic and yes this kind of kicked off a bunch of faceless banjo pop bands, but I still love it. Sure, lyrically it's not amazing (what are there, 20 different references to Mumford's head and heart?) but it's seriously catchy and I believe there's a good amount of variety here. Not every song is "soft---soft---add bass----little louder----mothafuckin banjo-----huge sound-----end", the album is a little more varied than that. _________________ 2023 Chart

I will always think of Mumford & Sons as "not as good as Kings of Leon." Random, I know, but they're both one of my ex's favorite bands that I probably would have never listened to if it weren't for her. This one's alright though. The second one wasn't so good. Haven't heard the third. Said ex gets bonus points for wanting My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy for Christmas when it came out (which strangely had no CD in it so I had to return it to Best Buy the day after Christmas). That's what actually made me like rap again after denouncing 99% of it for nearly a decade. What are we talking about again? Oh. Mumford & Sons.

Wait, we're allowed to bring up ex-GF quotes here? Okay, then. Here's what Nikki said when I asked her what she saw in them:
"I've never heard anyone else make this kind of music, Charlie"

This album was the soundtrack to my sophomore year of college, it was one of the only things musically that brought my group of friends together. It's grown really stale on me since then and I would never listen to it willingly anymore, but it still has a special place in my heart. And yeah, the two albums after this were dreadful. _________________ And it's hard to be a human being. And it's harder as anything else.

I mean, it's baseline indie folk, which isn't even that likeable of a genre. I don't know. Vanilla has a place, too, I guess. This record is fine if you're taking each track and examining them individually. Then again, you could take one track and understand the entire thing. There are a couple okay tracks. Otherwise, this is just plain.
