Since Radiohead is popular in here, and this album took a new direction, in ways of selling, I thought it would be a good idea for all of you to post your ideas regarding this (music, sales, format, etc.)
So what do you think?

When you buy something you, are paying for the value that you anticipate in the item. CD's are full of bloat costs. To manufacture a CD costs almost nothing when done in bulk and even less when delivering digitally over the web. However, due to the number of middle-men in between the originating artist and the final pressed CD, you are not paying just for the CD but also the distributer, retail shop, agent etc so the cost of the CD contains all of the supply chain costs.
I like the digital model but the price in many cases (e.g. iTunes) is still bloated. For me, there should be more of a difference between the cost of a CD and a MP3 but there's not, some people are still being greedy. I like the Radiohead model. I can give them what I think they are worth and know that they are getting the money directly. I hope other artists do the same.

The system they've used will probably be very innovative. but the album itself seems to be very underwhelming to me. what do others think?

Sam, it really depends with what albums you want to compare with. I think this is a really good pop album, if you are expecting another Kid A, you will be dissapointed, but I think this is their most melodic album so far (not their best though).
Speaking of the selling issue, I think that in some part, it is good, in other I'm not that sure. It seems it worked good for them, but how it's going to work for those artists/band that are starting? I know the costs of a CD can be really high considering the percentage that is getting for the artist, but without labels the recording and mastering could reduce to a very low quality sometimes, specially for those artists with low budgets.

I think it's easily their worst album, even vastly inferior to the drag known as Hail to the Thief. I'd give it about a 5 out of 10.

Do you think is even worst than Pablo Honey?
I thought Pablo Honey was a good start for them, because the only way they could go after that one, was going up.
What I can see on this one is that is their most melodic album to date maybe, and also can be the most accesible one in my opinion. It is not the best album ever, but it is pretty decent, at least that's what I think of it.

I'm not much of a fan of Pablo Honey either, but I think it is much better (more emotional) than In Rainbows.

Fair enough, while I don't agree with you on this one, I respect your opinion.

I was very disappointed by the album. A lot of the songs were very boring. It was worth the eight dollars I spent, but I wouldn't pay more.
