Used to really like it but now I think this just a mediocre retread of their Joshua Tree era.
Some good songs, Beautiful Day is a really good pop song and When I Look at the World is often overlooked.

Peace on Earth is incredibly dull...

i'm gonna disagree pretty strongly here. beautiful day was easily one of the worst tracks on the record for me. elevation, stuck in a moment, walk on and new york are probably the only ones worse.

when i look at the world and peace on earth are decent. kite and in a little while are strong. the rest varies between bad and forgettable.

likewise, when this first came out, i was really into it, but repeated listens wore out its welcome. following up atyclb with the tripe that is htdaab certainly didn't help this album's standing either.

I find it ok while at the same time unambitious. It's a band trying to get their shit together again after the experimental 90s phase that ended with the lousy Pop album.
When it came out I tought it was very good but now I'm not interested in it at all. Sure they played it safe, but managed to get at least 3 or 4 songs that were worthy.
If I have to pick a post 80s U2 album this would be my second choice after Achtung Baby.
