Who by Fire gets performed by my synagogue during our High Holy Days. He's been a part of my development as a Jewish adult and this one really hurts _________________
Only 7 weeks and this misersble year will be finished.
Yes. So many music legends from the '70's are dying and those of us like me who weren't there on his golden age feel as if we need to go back time. I regret so much not going to a concert of his a few years ago when I had the chance... one of the greatest lyricists of all time and, for what I know, an extraordinary person. RIP.
It was difficult listening to his latest record and not feel like his death was right around the corner. Didn't feel like it would be so soon though.
Much like Bowie, he left us with an otherworldly effort right before he passed. It's great to see these artists making such a statement so close to the end.
I'll be giving it another listen today.
We used to listen to So Long Marianne in the car when I was a kid. I remember asking my parents what a crucifix was. I'd probably still list it in my top ten favourite songs. Will definitely be giving it a more few extra spins this evening.
This is a shame He knew he was going soon though. It's just sad to see one of Canada's greats leave us.
He lived a long life, had a career that spanned decades, and released a discography that'll leave him remembered for the ages. Going to be spinning a bit of him today.
Saw him in 2012. At almost 40, it was weird being one of the youngest people there. But man, did he put on a show. He had a great rapport with the audience and a self-depricating sense of humor that was completely beguiling.
A remarkable man, a remarkable talent and a remarkable life. _________________ 100 Punk Favourites
