Updated as follows...

RECORDED PERFORMANCES - NEWLY ADDED:
Requiem - Gyorgy Ligeti (1965) / Jonathan Nott - Berliner Philharmoniker (2002) / Previously I’d only listed the YouTube link for this performance. Now I’ve found this recording on Spotify and added it
Symphony No. 7 in E minor "Song of the Night" - Gustav Mahler (1905) / Leonard Bernstein - New York Philharmonic (1966)

RECORDED PERFORMANCES - REVISED:
Symphony No. 41 in C Major - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1788) / Sir Colin Davis - Staatskapelle Dresden (1982) to Karl Bohm - Berlin Philharmonic (1962) …NOTE: Bohm’s is probably my very highest recommendation. However, for Mozart’s Symphonies, I may include two recordings for each, one for “best performance without repeats” (like Bohm’s) and a second for “best performance with repeats” (I need to double-check, but Davis’ may qualify), so I am keeping the Colin Davis performance there while I determine this, and may or may not keep it permanently…
Symphony No. 5 - Gustav Mahler (1902) / Herbert von Karajan - Berlin Philharmonic (1973) to Rudolf Barshai - Junge Deutsche Philharmonie (1999)

I just discovered an incredible set of Bach's Violin Sonatas & Partitas by James Ehnes:

There are other truly great sets of these works, particularly Milstein (DG), Grumieux (Philips), Tetzlaff (Virgin), and Perlman (EMI).

Of perhaps all the 10-rated "Performance Quality" recordings on my list, Perlman's Violin Partita #2 might be the one I think is the most un-surpassable. Until ... maybe ... now? Ehnes' set may be the greatest overall, but also, quite impossibly, may have even surpassed Perlman as my choice for the Violin Partita #2 in D Minor.

I'm not sure yet, but, either way, you owe it to yourself to hear this stunning rendition (and the entire set) and I wanted to point it out, regardless if it makes my top choice or not.

Ehnes' renditions are pretty similar to Perlman's in manner and emotion, except he is a little purer and cleaner sounding, less "heavy" with his vibrato and intonation, and somewhat fleeter/smoother rhythmically -- more legato. About halfway between Grumieux and Perlman -- a match made in heaven. Not sure if his are actually better until I listen and compare some more, but the fact I am even considering it means this rendition (Partita #2) and set is among the very best ever in my estimation.

For fans of Tchaikovsky's greatest masterpiece, the Symphony No. 6 in B Minor "Pathetique", I have just discovered a stunning new rendition from the maverick conductor Teodor Currentzis. His results with other works (such as Mozart) have been interesting (and well recorded) but mixed as to result.

But this rendition of Tchaikovsky's 6th is quite stunning. Perhaps even the most well-recorded Classical Work (in terms of sound quality), that I've ever heard. It totally immerses you in its sound world, up close and personal with the orchestra.

Although it's possible I'll change my mind, I would not say that it outdoes Mravinsky's astonishing classic rendition. Nevertheless, my initial impression is that it's close: Performance Quality 9.5 / Sound Quality: 10 (which, if it holds, would make it my second choice overall just behind Mravinsky's). And I wanted to bring it to your attention. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Will blow your socks off. On Spotify.

Sorry for interrupting your reviewing streak, but I find your log very interesting and quirky! How can you keep up with so much music going around us? (unless you're secretly 168 years old or a gargoyle, then it gets really easy to explain). It's pretty darn cool how you can analyze and update all your ratings and reviews and other mumbo jumbo my man, bright cheers.
