18.4.17 by Pat Thomas & Orphy Robinson
recommended for skinny, tap, dbz, possibly others with a pension for mixed improvisation, dub, and noisy electronics
Been listening to Faust's new album too, which is - to my surprise - good
and lastly, I cannot stress enough what I believe to be the wide-ranging appeal of

It's kind of surprisingly good. I expected a lot and the sound just feels more lush than any album they've had before. Only on Waste now but in love so far. _________________

I know, right?
I like Sealed to Me, Mene and I Am A Nightmare - don't get me wrong, but they all felt like B-Sides. I'm glad that A) the album doesn't go in those directions and B) none of those tracks are on this LP.
and like you said, this is lush... so unlike them, but a great step forward. _________________ follow me on the bandcamp.

Sealed to Me wouldn't feel out of place on this to me, though Mene and I Am A Nightmare definitely feel more like old b-sides - and as far I know, they are old tracks. I just finished the first listen and am pretty taken aback. It's really incredible. _________________

Thanks Meccalecca, I've been intriguied by that Algiers album and I think I'll just scurry that one up to the top of the queue

I don't know, I'm not the best one to judge since I haven't listened to a fuck ton yet, but yeah plenty of good releases like any year but not a whole lot that have really been obsessing over, I love Pleasure but I mean cmon it's Queen Leslie. Can't help but thinking of slightly missed potential with some very promising but ultimately just pretty-strong albums (Laurel Halo, Perfume Genius, Tara Jane O'neal) and some fetching albums that are being a bit done in by the messianic hype (Here's looking at you Lordi)... but there's plenty of promising releases on the forefront and some of my already-heards that I think just need some more time and extra listens. I think it's still a bit far to get a more wide-ranging, accurate read on the year, and 2017 (.... music-wise) still looks promising.

I've been enjoying this year so far, though the amount of listening I've done of albums from this year has dropped fairly significantly just because I haven't had nearly as much time as I've had in the past to listen to albums.
That being said, there's still been some great stuff to come out (Mount Eerie, Fleet Foxes, Bing & Ruth, Grandaddy, Blanck Mass, to name a few off the top of my head) _________________ 2023 Chart

Seeing as one of my favourite albums from 2017 is a video game soundtrack i can't say I've really been digging 2017 so far. Most albums I've heard this year have been very underwhelming and the ones that are supposedly quite good i don't feel a rush to check out anytime soon.
Hopefully the upcoming QOTSA and LCD Soundsystem albums wont disappoint

Probably tied with 2015 for favorite year this decade, truthfully. Can't make it official until the year's over tho, but it's definitely on the right track. _________________ ...and for dessert!
