Absolution is excellent, especially "Stockholm Syndrome" and "Hysteria", but I ever-so-slightly prefer Origin of Symmetry.

Oh, I definitely agree. I will say, however, that this was the last great MUSE album. Black Holes was bloody inconsistent and then MUSE lost me with everything after it.

Ah yes, my mid teens. When Muse was so politically correct.

I agree. As a Muse fan I don't get why it is higher rated than OOS. It came after this album and it continues the path the former took but with a little less organic sound.

@craola I also agree about BHAR but after that album came "The Resistance" which I find is also one of the best Muse albums. After that, the inconsistent Muse you were talking about arrived...

I listen to Black Holes more often than Absolution, but I do agree that this one is a bit more consistent.

Origin of Symmetry is better than both of them.

I got into Muse from this album and they blew my mind for about 5 years, and then became a bit too formulaic for my taste.

Still incredible and still some of the best musicians in rock for the past 20 years (Wolstenholme's bass tone is to die for... and that drumming is sooo goood... and Bellamy's belting vocals with his guitar/keys skillez... and decent orchestrations of near classical music compositions).

But alas, I stand by my formulaic modes after too many listens. On a hiatus from this group for sure.

I do agree that BH&R isn't as consistent as the previous 2 albums, but it does have my 2 favourite Muse songs: "Map of the Problematique" and "Knights of Cydonia".
