It was my big moment. One I'd been practicing for for years. We were sitting down at my friends house for Thanksgiving dinner. The football game was being turned off. Silenced. And the hostess turned to me and asked me to put on some music.
So on the fly I created a playlist from these albums...
And it was a massive hit!!! I'd done stuff like this for years. BUT never (or at least rarely) have I received so many compliments on the music. Each track seemed to trigger another wave of them. Pretty crazy! Suddenly I'm a jazz/early 50s expert! lol.
Anyways, it was a fun evening & a fun pat on the back proving that our obsessive hobby does have some benefits so I thought I'd pass it on.
There are few feelings better than the one when everyone is loving your impromptu DJ-ing at a party. Glad it went well! _________________ Add me on RYM

Thanks, brother! I doubt if it wasn't for your little project listening to the albums of the 1950s that I'd ever would have heard those albums to begin with! lol.
YES! FINALLY, a rap record that takes the Minutemen/GBV approach to album building, cuts out all the crap and just slays track after track after track without any drop off in quality. My AOTY until further notice. Damn this shit is hot!
At a punk bar in Chicago. The DJ is playing nothing but late 70s punk. Both obscure & common. And it’s at moments like this that I wonder if any other music is ever required!

I wouldn't even know where to find a punk bar in Belgium any more but I suppose that is because I'm getting old(er)
The only place these days where you can find people crawling out of their punk holes are concerts

I think that's true for most cities now. Chicago had/has a really big punk scene. So there's at least three dedicated punk bars I can think of off the top of my head. It's pretty cool.
It's redundant and not as good. The original is a great LO-FI indie rock. On first listen, I just don't like this one nearly as much and it seems like the exact same songs to my ears with an inferior sound. Keep in mind that I love lo-fi and early 90s indie rock. I just don't get why this was done when the original is perfect the way it is. I can't see myself ever listening to this since I will always choose Mirror To Mirror. It's production better suits the nature of the songs.
This is just my first take, but the new production/recording doesn't seem to add that much while definitely losing the charm and relatability of Mirror To Mirror.

Sorry Till. Her new single is four minutes and it’s pretty great! _________________ Some RYM paraphernalia:

Dammit. I hate when artists I love get all indulgent & stuff. This is like trying to listen to Gabriel Genesis.
