#whiteboyswithguitars. Interesting that both Killers albums are vastly superior to anything a black artist (or a woman, for that matter) has ever made. But hey, opinions make the world go round (or grind to a rather stodgy halt)...

This responce makes me very sad since you are such a great poster. I was mainly exposed to rock music during my teen years and only in the past 2-3 years begun to expand my horizons. That being said, I still genuinely like rock music the best. There are alot of hiphop or soul dominant charts but then it's ok beucase it's cool to listen to that and be a unique individual and it's suddenly not cool to like rock music because it makes you a generic character by default.

The other thing I wanted to say was that I think my chart is still pretty safe and still not good because I stuck with the albums I know the best since I know how to rank them and there are lots of great albums (by both black people and women in general) but since I've only found out about them recently I didn't really explore them thoroughly and there don't know where to put them in the charts. This will of course improve with time.

So I'm sorry if my chart offended you and made you think I don't appreciate black artist because it's not true. I like Stevie Wonder, Jimi Hendrix, Kendrick Lamar etc etc. but I still really love The Killers in an honest way and they will always be high on my chart. I believe the title greatest albums chart is misleading since my goal was simply to make the list of my top 100 favourite albums.

Well said. It's nothing to be ashamed of. Let your interest flow where they do, irrespective of identity politics. Like you said youll have plenty of time to become more familiar and enthused by a variety of artists, and their skin color or gender has no fucking bearing on the music.

Nice to see the oft forgotten Love Over Gold sitting so high in your chart. Very nice, non obvious choice! Ditto Making Movies as opposed to the usual Brothers in Arms.

Got my favorite Who and Iron Maiden in there as well.

And a rare Pain of Salvation sighting! Very cool.

Don't sweat the race baiting. I often get accused of racial bias on account of not liking reggae or hip hop. But if you do the math, black artists are actually OVERrepresented in my collection. It's easy for weakminded people to make false assumptions.

Worry not, calm reigns here:
I said "don't sweat ..."

Such a call to remain calm is hardly a reason to accuse one of needing to calm down.

Accusing somebody of race baiting for what appears to have been a tongue-in-cheek comment (provided with its own caveat regarding it being an opinion) is rather unnecessary. With the words "calm down", I was referring to your hyperbolic language, not your manner.

Would use would the internet be if we couldn't accuse people we don't know of being racist or race-baiting?

I do think it was just an overreaction to what was Im very very sure a tounge-in-cheek, BEA-inside-y joke from Jimmy, I don't think he was intentionally implying in any sense of the word a supposed ignorance, intentional or not, towards artists of color

I could, of course be wrong as internet discussion lacks the nonvverbal component, which is supposed to be 80-90% of communication, but the comment seemed quite pointed and not at all tongue in cheek. It was clear the OP didn't take it as humorous either and I've never known him to be the type to overreact.
