Used to love this band... now I don't return to them too often. A few years removed from my fandom, I seem to remember this as pretty uninspired, but there are some memorable vocal hooks and lyrical moments, such as "Topless models/Doing semaphor/Wave their flags as she walks by/And get ignored" from Reckless Serenade. But even then, I just wish that more attention had been paid to the rest of the songwriting. It's pleasant to listen to, but that's about it, to be honest. I do agree that Black Treacle is one of the standouts
At least it's still a better homage to 60's pop than that recent Last Shadow Puppets record...

I think this is their weakest album. But then again I also think Love Is A Laserquest is probably their best song.
