This could've been a real killer of an album if it was a bit shorter.

Like a Stone and I Am The Highway are real classics.

Agreed it could be cut by maybe 3 songs and it would be a true classic. But it is one of my favorite albums regardless. Pretty great yet relatively simple song structure, but hooks galore. Plus.. Chris Cornell showing a slightly different side of his voice post Soundgarden.

Yes, Cornell's voice here definitely couldn't reach the same notes he did during Soundgarden (and sounded very strained when he tried) but I think his timbre kinda got better with age. It's evident here and it became even more beautiful on Songbook and Higher Truth.

Completely agree. The older he got, the more soulful his voice became. He was a hell of a vocalist up to his death.

When Cochise first started playing on KROQ, I knew alternative rock still had a bright future. It then died a few years later.

And to be honest, Cornell's tone and soul somehow are much more interesting in this music than in Soundgarden (my opinion). Soundgarden had some great stuff and technically had a larger range, but his tone, soul, and I want to say passion is greater in Audioslave... it seems at least. I could probably change my opinion in 4 months.

It also could just be the recording of the vocals were better and captured it best. Never saw him live.

No, it's not the recording, his voice definitely did get more soulful:

However since he sounded great even in Temple Of The Dog that made me think that maybe his voice was always more suited for a but softer style of music.
