I'm making a chart of best instrumental hits and I need to jog my memory. It could be an instrumental hit that was in any style. I already have quite a few in Rock, Jazz, Disco, Funk, Country. There have been instrumental hits in all styles. I'm just having trouble thinking of them right now.

Thanx. I got all those guitar rock ones but I need to find out who did stuff like Pink Panther theme and all that kind of shit. I know it's gotta be one of those guys you listed like Henry Mancini or one of those guys, so now I could just check these names you gave me. The only one I have so far is Herb Alpert. thanks for the help

Henry Mancini did the pink panther theme.

BTW I'm a big fan of the 50's 60's Easy Listening/Bossa Nova type stuff. You really have to find the song you're looking for first and then look up the song instead of the artist. All of these guys covered everybody's shit, that is why you see five thousand instrumental covers of the same song, but each artists had a couple of hits each that they wrote.

Edit: Make sure you get "Sleep Walk" by Santo and Johnny and "Classical Gas" by Mason Williams which won a Grammy. This article should help you as well.

I've got Sleepwalk lined up but I have to add it myself cause BEA doesn't have it. I got some sixties Bossa Nova type stuff lined up cuz I'm a big fan of Sergio Mendes Herb Alpert and all that kind of shit. And some 50s stuff. Country shit from the 50s, jazz.

this wasn't a hit but not for lack of trying, Phillips released and re-released and re-branded this a bunch of times. But it's still really worth noting as a classic of catchy electronic music done in 1957

Da Funk is way way up near the top of my chart. I might even add another daft punk if I have room.
Go check out my chart, it's fuckin awesome. It's called Albums With the Greatest Instrumental Hits. I wish I knew how to put those links to your charts that some people have. but I don't know how to do it.

Was flat beat an actual hit? Because I'm only using tracks that were actual hits. There's a whole ton of great instrumentals, but my chart is just for instrumentals that were actual hit singles.
