Well, we all have tons of personal favorites that we'd like to see there, but realize they don't have a realistic chance. So I'll just mention one that I am kind of surprised isn't there already. Most of the classic rock artists are pretty well represented in the top 100 as you would expect, except for one that I can think of. Creedence Clearwater Revival. All the other big name sixties artists are there but not Creedence. So I'd like to see one of theirs. Probably Willie and the Poor Boys or Cosmo's Factory has the best chance. One other 60s Superstar who is missing is Janis Joplin. . She don't even come close. I'd like to see Kozmic Blues there, but Pearl is probably more realistic.

yeah. I would have thought both of those would have been in top 100. Just too many amazing albums.

Exactly. the question is about objective qualities of albums, and on what criteria relies "universal acclaim" (as a certain website say for films) otherwise we all could say : my top 100 should replace the BEA top 100 Smile

Ok then. Not personal favourites but bizarrely absent from the top 100 are Sign of the times and Songs in the Key of life. Both albums are universally praised and are arguably the definitive statements of two of the most significant artists of all time. d'oh!

First I find that 5 Radiohead albums and 4 Bob Dylan albums in the top 100 is slightly excessive..

In my opinion, there should be some place in the top 100 for :
Off The Wall - M Jackson (currently 345)
Oracular Spectacular - MGMT (236) (after all Lonerism by Tame Impala is 100, so..)
Legend - Bob Marley (perhaps it's because it's a compilation)
Madonna - The Immaculate Collection (same reason, but did you know R Christgau gave it an A+ ? Surprised )
Hotel California - The Eagles (199, which is not bad already)
Harvest - Neil Young (104, almost there)
Laughing Stock - Talk Talk (220, a personal favorite which i'm confident will make the top 100 sooner or later)
Deserter's Songs - Mercury Rev (575) (in place of the Wilco album? hmm)
Blue Lines - Massive Attack (284)
Berlin - Lou Reed (408)
Make it Big - Wham (2 998) (ok, top 500 will do for me).
Strangers In The Night - Frank Sinatra (10 138)

And to finish with, I find the albums of the following artists "surprising" in the top 100:
Neutral Milk Hotel (a complete mystery for me. I keep trying)
The Stone Roses
King Crimson
Pearl Jam
Wilco
Kayne West (Graduation could almost make it)
Sufjan Stevens
Weezer
Nas
Interpol (although I love their second album, Antics)
Animal Collective
