Do you really think things are better?

Yes, things are better than what they would've been without the intervention taken. The economy was tanking months before President Obama took office. It was an economic crisis -- the subprime mortgage system gutted the financial market and took the rest of the country (and other countries) with it. The last time the market tanked as severely (DOW down from 13k to 7.5k) it was called a Depression (375 to 50). The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act staved off a depression, but it wasn't enough.

I think the true question is are things really better off with the tea party thwarting any substantial attempt at additional fixes to the economy? There was a huge compromise on the table from the President early in 2011, including social security and medicare, but the republicans weren't having any of it. They didn't want to raise taxes on the wealthy.

There are many narratives that i can expound on as evidence of positive momentum -- the financial sector is profiting big again, the american auto industry has survived and in some factors leads, credit card predatory practices shut down, the ability for kids upwards into their 20s to be covered under parents' health insurance and no denial of insurance coverage (for kids only until 2014) due to a pre-existing condition, the dodd-frank bill (which needs strengthening obviously with JPM creating its own rules) to regulate the financial sector, he has CUT taxes for the middle class since being in office (but doesn't receive credit because he didn't pull a cheap "cutting you a check" move like dubya), etc. There's a huge list here: http://obamaachievements.org/list .

So things are better under BO because things could have been worse! Are you on a Rocky Mountain high or suffering from HACE or HAPE? Do you also believe the BO kept the boogey man away?

Here's a list of BO lies http://obamalies.net/list-of-obamas-failures

Things are better under Preisedent Obama because he prevented an inherited financial mess from becoming worse. I apologize for not presenting a neutral site listing his achievements -- Wikipedia is a good resource for that. However, given that your stance and that website both begin with a negative claim that Barack Obama lies, I don't think either is unbiased.

Now, I don't know much about economics, however I do follow the general rule "never trust someone who has their hand in too many pies".

As competent as I feel Romney is, he also has his hand in WAY too many pies. Several bakeries worth of pies. Remember what happened when the minister of finance had HIS hand in that many pies? 2008 happened.
