Controversial music opinions thread. Release anything which you think may be controversial among other members, raise an eyebrow, incite someone into a rage or goes against the majority in anyway. All related to BEA and music. Probably not to be taken seriously and people may get it as we go along:

- Kid A is one of the weakest albums Radiohead released.

- Bruce Springsteen's best album is The Rising Applause Applause Applause

- Hitsville UK was one of the best songs The Clash ever recorded.

- 'The Importance Of Being Idle' by Oasis is more enjoyable than the majority of the songs on their first two albums.

- Born To Run would have been a better album without Jungleland.

- Master Of Puppets isn't that big a deal.

- Arcade Fire works best when the girls sing.

- Sigur Rós albums are rated far too high.

And your score is:

- Kid A is one of the weakest albums Radiohead released.
They are all weak, but Kid A may be the least so: 0 pts.

- Bruce Springsteen's best album is The Rising
Plain wrong. Go listen to any album released before 1990: 0 pts.

- Hitsville UK was one of the best songs The Clash ever recorded.
Nowhere near. It's a good song though: 0 pts.

- 'The Importance Of Being Idle' by Oasis is more enjoyable than the majority of the songs on their first two albums.
No: 0 pts.

- Born To Run would have been a better album without Jungleland.
Now you are just trying to be controversial: 0 pts.

- Master Of Puppets isn't that big a deal.
It's a great album, but in essence you are right. It's not that big a deal: 1 pt.

- Arcade Fire works best when the girls sing.
Not that controversial an opinion but still wrong: 0 pts.

- Sigur Rós albums are rated far too high.
Can't argue with that: 1 pt

Your total score is 2/8. Better luck next time.

I'm giving it a

- Kid A is one of the weakest albums Radiohead released.

...

1/8

Think thought it'd be higher than that. Don't agree with most of the stuff their I guess.

As for the idea, I think it's good. People might shed a bit about themselves that we didn't know before.

Maybe I'll give it a shot? These are some of my opinions that I don't say too much cause I don't think people agree.

-Dark Side Of The Moon isn't Pink Floyd's best
-Revolver is one of the Beatles lesser albums
-Led Zeppelin isn't a very good band
-The Beach Boys aren't very good
-David Bowie can't actually sing (still like him though)
-Exile On Mainstreet is boring
-Psychocandy is possibly the worst album I've heard
-Jeff Buckley's cover of Hallelujah isn't as good as it's received (I prefer John Cale, or Rufus Wainwright's version)
-Pitchfork normally gets it right Anxious
-Elvis Presley is slightly pathetic.

The rock opera (yeah I'm talking to you Mr. Townsend) was one of the worst ideas ever and instantly set music back 20 years.

Neon Bible is better than Funeral.

Amy Winehouse's music didn't become relevant when she died.

U2 is terrible.

OK Computer and In Rainbows are Radiohead's only good albums, period.

Lou Reed isn't the most important member of the Velvet Underground.

Dark Side of the Moon can't possibly be better than Pink Floyd's 4th best album, it leeched off and dumbed down psychedelic music like Sgt. Pepper did, and it should not be in the rock and roll canon at all.

Ride the Lightning is the best metal album ever (agreed that Master of Puppets is overrated).

Only teenagers should like the Strokes.

Laughing Laughing Laughing

I can't say I agree but I've never heard anyone diss Psychocandy and I must admit I enjoyed seeing it done. I do think that people take that album wayyy too seriously.

One more (re-posted from Kanye West forum):

Kanye West is terrible.

His narcissism is grotesque even by mainstream hip-hop's standards. His lyrics are laughable at best and he is only famous because he grovelled at the feet of MTV and Rolling Stone and the mainstream media critics until they finally accepted his incessant, pathetic self-promotion and decided to make him a star, probably just to shut him up and make him go home.

Oh, come on, if you're going to dis Kanye you should at least also attribute his success to his ties with Jay-Z.
But, also, Kanye has been widely praised since his debut, so I'm not totally sure what you're talking about with the whole "grovelling to MTV and Rolling Stone".

Kanye was trying to make it years before his debut -- with the help of Jay-Z as you mentioned -- and had to make more pointless, ass-kissing, self-promoting public appearances even with the most power rapper in the world behind him. I don't know if anyone has ever lusted for fame so publicly in order to launch a music career.
