Here are a few:

- Radiohead aren't very good at all,
- Pet Sounds is an average album like most albums by that band,
- Uplifting music is better than depressing music,
- Nirvana, though making a good record, killed rock & roll.

-The Sonic Youth are overrated.
-Sgt. Pepper's isn't a very strong Beatles album.
-Pet Sounds isn't that great, I wouldn't even call it the best Beach Boys album. And "God Only Knows"? It totally sucks.
-Rock and Roll is dead, and good riddance. Only through change as opposed to wallowing in the past can we move forward and create greater things.
-The 80's weren't underrated. The music industry at the time was dominated by shitty, shitty music.
-Albums like Lamb Lies Down On Broadway, The White Album and Illinois would have benefited more if they had been shorter albums.
-Elvis was a hack. He didn't even write his own music.
-Pitchfork likes Indie too much, and ignore too large a portion of modern music.

- Pets Sounds is crap (although this doesn't seem to be controversial as everyone on here seems to agree)
- The 80s are incredibly underrated (mainly because those born after about 1985 associate the music with 'here's one from the 80s' shit that you hear on the radio every so often!)
- The Rolling Stones should bow out gracefully and get themselves a place at the 'Eternal Flowers' retirement home on St. Barts (the same applies to Rod Stewart, Elton John, Status Quo and all those other granddads who think they can still rock)
- Neil Young is the only 'granddad' who still has a licence to rock Smile
- The Beatles are nothing more than a 60s boy band Laughing
- We all spend far too much time trying to make other people agree with our music taste somehow thinking it is superior...

Feel better now...

Well, one of my personal idols, Grace Slick, one said:
"all rock-and-rollers over the age of 50 look stupid and should retire".

Truer words have never been spoken.

Agreed. Here's one that should offend a few fans: The National Anthem = meh.

Also, Kanye West = meh.

-Bjork could offer me a BJ and I'd refuse because (1) she's ugly and (2) I don't want the mouth that produces that horrible voice on my body. her music is also inferior to any act she's related to (e.g. Tricky and the other trip hop acts)

-Animal Collective haven't made a good album yet, but they're getting close

-Black Flag (esp. Greg Ginn) is greatly under-appreciated

-U2 sucks endless balls

-Jaki Leibezeit is the greatest drummer ever, Bonham ain't got shit on him, but Lee Harris is a close second

-The Damned are better than the MC5, who they always aspired to be better than

-Flying Lotus is the most exciting thing to have happened in the past two years; he's the artist to watch

-the singer/guitarist of Pere Ubu is the most stupid asshole, which makes me like their music less

-Iggy Pop is the greatest stage performer ever

-Joanna Newsom's voice isn't weird at all

-New Order's Technique is vastly underrated, except by NME

-Nirvana's best album is In Utero by far

-Outkast sucks

-Pavement never made a good album, just several really great songs

-the only reason the Police get the time of day is because of MTV

-R.E.M. sucks endless balls

-Los Angeles was a better punk scene than New York

-the Stooges are the most influential band ever

-Talking Heads are the most consistent band ever

-Loaded is Velvet Underground's best album

-White Stripes never made a good album, just several really great songs

-I think pretty much everyone here has agreed that U2 sucks and/or is overrated.

-You can tell a real Nirvana fan when they tell you In Utero is their favourite Nirvana album.

-Well, The Beatles had a profound effect on The Stooges, and pretty much anyone else, so I think they win. But The Stooges would definitely be one of the highest contenders for second, them and the Velvet Underground.

I never thought you'd be the one to breaqk my heart Squishy (Although the Kanye thing I saw coming a mile off).

Anyway here's mine:
-I don't actively go against the grain
-I don't like to use threads on BEA to try and prove how cool and different my opinions are.

Unless every other person on the earth thinks how I think, I guess you're right.
